It has been frustrating watching us almost get there. Viet, Dave, Shoot, Fallwind, myself, and others have powered up some and yet we didn't seem to get there on the team daily score. I don't understand this. We had to have some players drop off??

I'm sure we'll get them. Of course it may take about 20 years to pass their overall points, but we may get a good boost with octo cores next year....

    Keep on crunching,
    Bob
Yes, we had some guys come for the first week of Oct in response to DDT's thread for gearing up for Oct1..
I think they misunderstood him and thought all we were doing was a one week blitz vs a long term assault.
    That's ok too.
We'll thank them for what they did and continue on in the battle.
There's some more of those 4 cored beasts coming next week and some of them look a little different than we're used to..
    Maybe even some that..oops....
Oh Bob: Not going to take 20 years..2 possibly but between 1-2 is more likely!

I will have another cruncher online either late today or tomorrow. The wiring is taking a little longer than I thought.

Good one. We can use another..P4-2000 right?
Can you imagine trying to wire that beast?
I had a job once where a mess greeted me of thousands of unlabeled wires.
Had one guy with me and a week to get it done.
You had to see the look on his face when he saw the mess.
Looked at him, said One step at a time and we'll get it done.

I am back up and running, 1 q6600 in the media center throwing out @ 3.0ghz

Just got my Striker rig back up and going Q6600 @ 3.7, running low 40's crunching, so some headroom left, will play more when I have time, maybe have a 4ghz, if I am to be so lucky.

Will grab a pci vid card and a cooler off ebay or somewhere and get my E6600 up and going in the coming weeks, will have 20 glorious days off after the 25th, so have some good time to play.
    Q6600 @ 3.6, cheap water cooling, and crunching 24/7

That's the wiring for the BlueGene/L supercomputer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The full system has more than 65,000 dual-processor compute nodes.

I wonder which WCG client it will run and if LLNL will let us "borrow" it for say a month or two?
That think might even beat DDT in the dailies..

By the numbers as of today, we are 1,465,482,645 points behind EN, in the total. Let's say we get 500,000 more per day than they do. The math says it's 8.03 years to overcome their total. I think this is easily do-able as we grow the team. I also think we are more likely to adopt new hardware than EN. That should help.

I'd like to see us catch Team 2ch in the dailies. (Hey, I can dream, can't I?) That would put us roughly 3 million per day over EN. We would catch up to EN in approximately 1.33 years. Now catching Team 2ch, that's another story....

Guess I better go to Fry's today......

    I hope it's me....

I'm about halfway through the farm build. The pic below shows the final plan for the three racks I'm planning for. The items in blue highlight are planned. The items in gray exist right now. This will likely take until next year to accomplish....unless the lotto helps out...

The left side are all my original WC machines. I've been able to air cool the G0s in the middle and will air cool the future right rack. When Octos come out, if they are hot, they will go in the left and replace the B3s I'm running there.

My current actual racks are arranged a bit different than this. I will be re-racking soon to make it look like this. I've had a bit of shuffling to figure out the best design for my use.

    Regards,
    Bob

They need to pull the DC and put in QC's...

You know, follow our lead. What part of that does not compute?

I believe IBM originally intended BlueGene to study things like protein folding. But it's now used mostly for weapons simulation. They like to see what atoms do when a bomb detonates.

I have my newest quad core up and running BOINC at 3.6GHz. Cooling it with a Tuniq 120 that I had laying around. Have not really tested the CPU's limits. Felt it more important right now to start generating points for the team. I'm using an Abit IP35 Pro. The board didn't like some of my RAM. But I found a pair that worked.

It would be really nice if there was a GPU client added for this. With all the gamers around here, that's some huge points.
