I think that NB block you linked might well work.

No one in the UK has it instock so i can't get it to test it sadly

I mailed EK a couple of days ago: Dear EK, will there be a NB-block for Asus X38 boards like Maximus Formula & P5E series?

Edvard (König) said: Hi! I think the NB/SB1 water block should fit to NB chipset. For SB we will release a water block NB/SB 3 which will allow installing the block to chipset because of very close installed capacitors. Best regards, Eddy

Edit: I measured this block & it will not fit, so I'll mail him again & ask if he will be making a nice (4-holed) block soon..

I'm pretty sure the EK-NB4 intel4hook is too big (72x57x13mm).

Even if you deduct 7mm from the length to the centre of the holes it will still be 58mm between the holes, & the holes for the X38 are approx. 53x33mm (62mm diagonal).

Something simular to this block would be very nice though..

& did you check/reseat you heatpipe? My heatpipe was hardly making contact with the SB, so I fitted it correctly & put some Pro grade +5022 in between. Now it won't hit 40C.

Sorry for the crappy pics guys but this room is poorly light.

This is the north bridge cooling solution I will be trying on the board. The Fusion looks like it would be too restrictive in a 1/2 loop w/CF blocks and I want a single loop sys.

    Now i have a naked X38 * 56K warn 24 photos

LOTS AND LOTS OF PHOTOS (24)! GO GET A BEER OR COFFIE AS THEY LOAD!

Well this is very very intresting! I advise caution when removing the NB unit, see my photos as to why!

    The hole spacings

X38 hole spacing is 64.43mm exactly

    ICH9R SB is 55.64mm

    Mosfet is 84.71mm

The EK ASUS 3 mosfet block does fit. Admitly only on the one side, the right hand side. To fit the mosfet block on the back near the IO's it's going to need a small mod as 2 caps next to the ATX 12v block it. If you look on the EK ASUS 3 you will see it had 2 sections on one side where it has been ground/filled/machined flat slightly. It over hangs the caps or chokes, well it's need to do so on the rear IO mosfet. 1/1.5mm i think is all i need, 5 mins with a good file. Maybe Eddy can adjst his drawing for the next batch he makes of these.

Well there ya go, hope this helps. I'm off to mod my mosfet block and get that fitted.

I need to prise the X38 IHS off the STOCK HSF, so i've got a naked X38 NB and a X38 IHS keyring thing to go with my X6800 IHS keyring

I'm back, this is dead easy to mod. My tool was a 4000w angle grinder. It was the 1st thing to hand. I use them a lot in my job for polishing (yep you can grind and polish)! Anyway job is done and item has been fitted!

What ya think? I'n need to use some 1000/1500/200 grit to tidy it up from the griding disc and maybe a mudge of polish. I need to lapp the base anyway.

I got a clearer shot of the SB

I also clean my naked X38 die, cotten buds then outside and spray it with IPA and leave to evaporate
