"ETA October 18th. The is a PRE-ORDER ONLY. We have 8 pieces available for Pre-Sale. These are not IN STOCK. These boards will ship on October 18th. Shipment date pending release from ASUS."

Not exactly in stock, but a good find.
If you don't over-do it now, you'll likely do it over later.

and they don't ship to canada... Well, I will see if NCIX will be able to have some ! But I will prefer a DFI x38, but no news from them Look like they are going to be late again... and I will not wait this time because Crysis is around the corner and there's a TON of PC games coming in november and not counting the ones in october.. I don't no for you but it's been a long time since we had so much pc games coming.... and some people were saying recently that pc games will fade away compare to console

Looks like a great mobo, I opted for the DQ6

According to this review, they are both on par with one another >>> http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/Giga...ts/5306-1.html

Pretty marked up price, yes and cheapest shipping is another $8 - $308 is quite expensive compared to all the others out there: http://www.google.com/products?q=asu...tf-8&scoring=p

I highly doubt this MBPro will be shipping it alone by the 18th...

Probably yes but besides the 2-phase memory support and better layout of the Asus I also love the idea of having WC block included instead of buying it - even if I won't use it immediately (need to 're-tube' my machine ).

    I noticed it had:
    Storage
    ICH9R Southbridge:
    6 x Serial ATA II 3.0Gb/s Channels
    Supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10
    1 x UltraDMA 100/66/33 channel

Does this mean it does not use the P35 chip? I am trying to avoid that chip because I have Raptors, and don't want RAID issues.

ROFL. P35 boards are long shipping - it's the new X38 chipset we are all waiting for.

Is there a P35 chip on this board?

I know this is an X38 board.... I am trying to avoid the P35 chip.

Can sombody confirm this for me?

I want an on board RAID controller that is not P35.

Does the ICH9R Southbridge replace P35? That is what I am asking.....

    Time is ticking away.....

ICH9R southbridge is used by boards with both P35 and X38 NORTHbridges.

So is there a P35 chip on this board?

    Can somone confirm this?

Still holding out for a YES or NO answer.

I would like to order it if it does not.

More time ..... tick... tick ...

So you are saying an X38 replaces P35 chips, and motherboards can't have both?

I am missing your point, and looking for a direct answer.

I already posted I know this was an X38 board......

I guess you ment to say is "there is no P35 chip on an X38 motherboard, because X38 replaces P35". (Would have been the helpfull answer)

"ICH9R southbridge is used by boards with both P35 and X38 NORTHbridges" didn't quite clear it up for me.
    (Newbie)

"yes!! This is X38 board. NOT P35. X38. NOT P35. X38. NOT p35. Clear?" was just ment to embarrass me.

I assumed that due to the level of abuse, P35 must not be on X38 mobo's, so you kind of helped me in a way, though it came with a price....
Just hope we have a kinder, gentler online community here in general?

Just baught one. I am in the X38 club now too, and thrilled my incorrect idea that P35 was also on the X38 boards is now gone.

No more worrying about the latest revision Raptors having communication issues with the P35 chip set for me!!

My 2 Raptor 150's should raid up nice on this board, I hope!!

My take is they are not in the store, we can order them now, and they will ship on the 18th of OCT to us, after they arrive at the store.

Didn't mean to embarras you at all. Was just trying to simplify it as much as possible...Should have said They were: P35+ICH9R. X38+ICH9R. would have made it easier. I don't think the raptors ever had a problem with P35 boards and since ICH9R is in both it's going to be the same with X38 anyway.

Thanks for the reply. Misunderstanding resolved!!

My info was that the Raptors with the latest revisions had a problem with P35...

I just hope I have no issues at all. It wont take too much to knock me off my game!!

    First time builder...

I am pumped about getting a Special Edition Maximus...

Do we know what makes them Special Edition?

Yeah If I was going water, I would have probably done the same, but I'll be using Coolit Freezone

Yes it was pricy, but considering I already had 2 Raptor 150's, and was thinking good possibility P35 wouldn't like them. I just was about to pull the trigger on a $300.00 RAID SATA controller to avoid the issue totally. Now I will roll the dice on my Raptors and X38 in RAID using the on board SATA controllers.

I look at it that I just saved $300.00 bucks in controller money...

X38 should be a fun ride, and you have to bet on some pony, might as well be the Maximus Formula Special Edition.

And this one has a cool name, and no funky word on the chip that would be in my TJ09's window!!

Mine is going under water Fusion block to Fusion block.

if this is your first rig build , why would you want to go with a board that should be water cooled for the chipsets ? if i were you and it was my first time putting a rig together , i would get a proven p35 board .

special edition probly means a fews things but mostly water cooled stock .

fuzion cpu blocks are great but there are better gpu blocks . you should run your list of parts by everyone and also what you are going to use your rig for . you can save alot of money for cpu and gpu upgrades that will be coming soon .

like maybe not raptors but Perpendicular Recording 7200.10's . i would take 3x seagates over 2x raptors and save money plus out perform them ...imo
