    8800GT 512MB - 8800GTS 640MB (new ver.) - 8800GTX 768MB - 8800GTX Ultra 768MB

    8800GTS 320MB gets dropped.

So my guess is the 8800GT is about the same speed as a 320MB and the new 640MB should be maybe 5-10% faster than the current one. If you can wait till Nov 12th, then you'll know for sure how things turn out. That or wait till Jan/Feb '08 for the Geforce 9 series to come out.

    is that the order?
No. As far as I can gather. 8800GTS as we know it goes out. Both 320 and 640MB. There will be a new 640MB with more SPs maybe. But I dont see that happend. 8800GT looks too fast for that. Also 8800GTX etc will get a new version.

So think 7800->7900 move rather than fit in. 90nm->65nm. And G90 is also waiting with G93 or whatever its called.

So a 64SP with ~600mhz core is too fast?
Where have you been hearing ANY word on performance or shader domains?

Where do you hear confirmation it's 64SPs?

Rumours put shader domains between 1.2-1.8ghz....Which really doesn't help with does it. :P

I may be a potential buyer of this card. I have a small room and my computer heats it up way too much. Mostly due to the video card.

This may be the best performance/wattage choice for my 8800gts.

Will the g9 series be released like the g8 series? That is, all the top notch stuff out and the mainstream to follow a while later?

Will it play Crysis maxed out at 1600 x 1200 tho?

We will have to wait and see i guess.

So I was at Newegg's Lanfest2K7 I asked this rep in the EVGA booth about the 8800GT, 8900s and 9800s, G90 cores in general. He gave me this big eyed look and first asked "are you press?!?!" Apparently no one else that day had asked him such technical questions. Anyways he said he couldn't tell me anything officially and that I shouldn't post this any forums (which I bet was him just trying to make me feel special aka viral marketing) but he said the 8800GTs are going to slot in to replace the 8800GTS 320s and should overclock very well. Thats all he told me. A few hours later I tried asking the same questions of a XFX rep who was walking around. Another wide-eyes look, told me he couldn't say anything and that I would find out when "they day" comes. I asked him if that day could be today, he said no and briskly walked off We need more xtremesystem members at events like this to really squeeze answers outta these guys lol.....

thats not thats not what im thinking. i am thinking that it will be basically a 65nm 8800gtx core with full 128 shaders at 600mhz that will be kept in check by the 256bit mem bus. that would put it just below the new 8800gts in performance because of a lack of bandwidth. but i believe it is going to be a good card a t a good price with low power consumption and low price.

Anyway, I didn't figure it was worth continuing the discussion about whether the NV5 will work, since none of the advanced images let us see the bare face of the card. Since they did not follow the reference design used on the 8800GTS/GTX cards, it's a toss-up. If the NVIO chip has a stand-alone heatsink, similar to the HSI Bridge Heatsink found on most AGP 6600/6600GT's, I do think that it will work. But if it is integrated with the GPU/RAM heatsink, maybe not. I like to mod, so I am hopeful that a solution is there.

Yes, that's why I thought I might have a go at it.

Another advantage of the NV6 is that you can remove the sink itself and lapp it very nicely, the width of the mounting pins allows it to slide perfectly on a 2inch x 2inch stick that I taped sandpaper on...I did that on my last one with very good results

Ya I find that hard to believe too, I remember seeing a post saying it has 64 SP somewhere. With 112 SP it'll beat the new 8800GTS 640MB after overclocking because of the 65nm process.

People also tought G80 was non unified up to launch.

nVidia has been quite good to keep secrets or seed misinformation on purpose.

With my GPU memory overclocked I achieve a memory bandwidth of 81.3GB/s.... I doubt a 256bit bus could meet that.....

Who cares, really, though... the GTS was not memory bandwidth limited anyway. I suddenly am wishing my board were an SLI one instead of a CrossFire one, unless the RV670 pulls a hat trick .

That.... or Intel finally decides to scoop up nVidia already....

Intel cant afford nVidia. They could buy AMD 3 times for what nVidia would cost.

Hmm it seems G92 is a 8TCP GPU and GF8800GT is G92 with some SP, TMU and ROPs disabled.

    That's not quite true.

They could buy AMD 2 times for what Nvidia would cost and Nvidia can't buy Intel because it would take seven Nvidia's to buy Intel.
