    My experience is that the Vcore regulator of this mobo is not very stable for C2D loads above 3Ghz, so maybe a regulator "droop" mod should also be considered ?

    No volt mods
    So far booted @310FSB
    Stable @300FSB
    Cpu-z voltage average 1.28
    Water cooling it but that should not make any difference at this speed.

    What rating of DDR2 are you using ?

    Because, unless it is real cheap rubbish, running memory at only 300MHz should allow timings of 4-4-12-4-1T or even 3-3-9-3-1T ---> your 5-5-15-5-2T is just throwing away performance?

    And if using any IDE devices, extreme overclocking works better (including more stable booting) when IDE Drive strength is set at "highest" ?

    Your right, I slackened the Ram timings to eliminate the Ram as a problem in overclocking and have not yet tightened the timings, till I exhaust all other factors in increasing the FSB.

    Have you got any different Bios settings that you think are positive and that I should try?

    Another point would be that overclocking generally works better when PCI-E Freq is also overclocked above it's 100MHz default ---> and not a problem for you since your setup is using a AGP vga card ?

    For example, overclocking my E4400/4coredual setup anywhere around 315-320 range is more stable when PCI-E Freq is at 119MHz !

    Your 300-310 o/c would however require a different PCIE value. And simplest way to test for effect would be by using "Overclock Mode" at 'CPU, PCIE Sync' ?

    I get the feeling that PCI-e may be tied in with SATA (usually is on other boards) So you may wanna be careful if running a SATA harddisk and going for big pci-e frequencies as it may corrupt .

    Guys I was wondering if you have or have heard of, this board having a bit of a brick wall on the FSB. After giving the board a full cap swap and the vmods I can run 329FSB rock stable, no problems everything is fine. If I set the BIOS to 330 it freezes at the POST! I've tried single sticks of memory DDR and DDR2, loose timings, everything auto, the works - nothing seems to make a difference. Have you any ideas cus I'm fresh out

    Like AGP and EIDE, SATA is tied to PCI bus ---> which should always be left at default of 33.33!

    Other than the fsb wall being the max bios option of 340, don't know that there is anything else built-in that would force any lower level?

    Max stable o/c I have achieved with either 4coredual-vsta or 4coredual-sata2 is 322. Although I haven't yet tried a capacitor "all change" mod.

    However, during my mod and o/c testing, I observed that "V-Link" option had a dramatic effect on overclocking levels ---> particularly on 4coredual-sata2. Where V-Link had to be at fastest setting to achieve stable 320's ---> so maybe V-Link "fastest" setting needs to be "faster" and/or the southbridge operating volts, etc, is somehow involved with your apparent overclock wall ??

    Correct, PCI-E at 119MHz will have no effect on AGP card!

    Good good only reason I say it because I had a Asus P4GD1 board which for some reason they tied the PCI-e to the SATA which proved to be a limiting factor at the time.

    I will play with e V-link see if it gets me anywhere - cheers

    775dual and 4coredual mobos are essentially same, which means all the mobo mods and bios setting tips in this thread apply equally to both !

    I think he’s talking about flashing the 4coredual-vsta bios onto his 775dual-vsta board.

    I have read about that being done before successfully, I don’t know if you would be able to run a 4core CPU on the 775dual-vsta board after the bios flash.

    Does anybody know if that’s been done before?

    Alchemist I was able to boot the 4coredual board wit ha 775dual BIOS (bad flash on the 4coredual so glad I still had the other board).

    Seems reasonable to say that they are interchangeable from a BIOS point of view but you will have issues wit the flashing program saying the board isn't compatible so you'll need to use a standard BIOS flashing program like AMI winflash or such like.

    340fsb At Last

    Actually I know I'm not the first to do this but it's a goal I've been aiming at for a long time!

    In the end what made it possible? Vagp....all 2.2volts of it

    To be honest it's a bit of an anti climax because I wanted these speeds to be usable for AGP card overclocking but most cards start to experience problems around 1.95-2.00volts on the agp so I'm gonna have to reign it back down

    Anyway here's some eye candy/inspiration for you guys

    You said that you ran the 4core bios on the VSTA - did that fix the PT880 pro being shown in cpuz, when you have an ultra?

    Never checked - you can see that in the SS above that its reported by cpuz as a Pro but EVEREST says ultra (which it is). I recall cpuz used to get it right then on a recent version decided to change it mind
