It supposed to be launched @ Q4, but high-end G9* was delayed, so Q4 becomes 2008 Q1 i gues. high-end G9* missed the tape-out date, so no more high-end parts this year.

I doubt another high end is coming in 2007 from them. I know they'd want to get it out ASAP with their new chipsets, but that info's for dual GPU, not another new high-end addition. Ya never know though....

Like it was said before, there's no high-end chip on any roadmaps for Q4, the dual-gpu is just a rumor too, and at best it might just be a third-party thing.

Why is it all of a sudden people are saying there won't be a high-end chip in Q4? Even if it were true, anyone actually knowing would be under NDA for other parts, no?

Of course at the time, NVidia (like everyone else) was expecting far more from ATI's high-end part which was still suffering from delays.

Now, as I said earlier in this thread, NVidia is in the fortunate position of not having to push themselves at all. They can (if they choose) extend the current gen product lifecycle at least another quarter which will net them higher margins with better yields on the silicon while still meeting demands with higher clocking parts. It's all good if you are an NVidia stockholder. It's also really not bad for consumers because we are getting cheaper higher performing cards. Keep in mind that when the 9800 does emerge, it won't be cheap. In the mean-time enjoy the performance/price ratio (and the overclocking potential) the new G92 will provide.

[slightly exaggerated]NVIDIA has a bit of an odd way of dealing with some journalists. Instead of NDAs they completely screen and ignore the media until about one week before they are about to launch something. Then they tell the second-tier partner to send out cards for testing and if you fail to compile a 23 page in-depth review comparing the new product to at least seven other, whereof at least three are from the competition, the second-tier partner gets pissed at you.[/slightly exaggerated]

So basically, dealing with NVIDIA is a bit like reliving the movie Saw.

Speaking with ATI is like having a beer with a childhood friend at the local bar.

Although I like to think AMD and ATI still keep some things to do their own way....

After recent releases from AMD, I think maybe that trip to the bar would be in complete silence, or maybe we talk to our friend, but they sit there and stare at us blankly.

    All companies have secrets

Right now a fellow editor of mine is doing some historical on ancient video cards. My contact ATI got really excited was about to start digging for architectural information and all kinds of stuff, when all we needed was some superficial performance figures for some charts.

I'm just saying that ATI has a very open approach in general, while NVIDIA is more of the tight-lipped kind. There are many more companies of both kinds.

Might as well keep all the Fuad in one place, so as not to pollute the News section any further: [D8E GX2?]

So now he's contradicted both claims that BenchZowner made (November 2007 release, single PCB). It'd be great if there was some news from somewhere that we could trust...

Can you trust me or Metro? If BenchZowner or whoever says that there will be a new high-end card in Q4 to dethrone the 8800 Ultra, then he is wrong.

I'm just hoping against all hopes because my next build hinges on the release of this next gen

    I suppose it'll be 2008 then.

BenchZowner actually said there won't be a new high-end card for 2007, and I concur.

I don't think there will be a new top card from nVidia this year. NV has no need of advancing a new top in Q4 2007 since AMD can't beat even 8800GTX now and won't beat it for long.

Sorry, i`ve just finished my work and you know..

BTW Fudzilla said G92 aka D8E is Dual-PCB card. OK but you know - they reported a few weeks ago it is a highend part. After that they said it is mainstream solution and now they are saying it is GX2 like card.
Everytime they say that they have info from "their source".

I still belive what BenchZowner said is true.

    Cool

    1. NVIDIA promised double precision floating point in the end of 2007 to the developers.
    2. NVIDIA needs new high-end part with lower power consumption (read single slot cards) so it can revive SLI and Quad-SLI interest.
    3. NVIDIA needs DX10.1 compliant chips and GDDR4.
    4. NVIDIA would f*ck up ATI completely if they manage to release another high-end chip

Based on that, I believe that there will be new high-end part this year.

We already have enough low end parts and they never start with releasing low end. High-end comes out first. Furthermore, if they launch in the same time frame as Intel (Harpertown in November) AMD will be between a rock and a hard place with no answer on both fronts and their shares would go down.
