New Gaming Headset beyerdynamic's MMX 300

Talked to their sales dept and they said late OCT release.

Should be very expensive but what people look for in a quality headset!

Should go great with my new prelude

That looks pretty good. Still probably won't beat an Audio Technica set with a mic mod, for long term comfort.

I've heard that this model (which is the same as a DT770-DT880-DT990) and the audio-technicas are about the same in terms of comfort.

    lol@sig zanza!

Hopefully they'll put out a non usb (skip the x-fi) version. I'm diggin' the new look tho. They should look into a Lan Party edition.

I am pretty sure the analog cables plug into the usb device so you can use them both ways

it says 3.5mm on both the mic and headphones, and a usb adapter so i doubt that it is needed

and what is this mic mod, is it like an adhesive backing on a swivel mic

Any way that you can mod up a small mic to fit on there. I have seen it done, but I don't remember where.

Those look very interesting. Wonder if they use 770/880/990 drivers or something completely different. It's nice to see a company finally put out a professional grade headset that could actually be used for music (knock on wood). Can't wait for the reviews.

For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

which is the same as a DT770-DT880-DT990
the big difference is that these new ones are 32 ohm impedence...which means no amp req'd.

Which leaves me to wonder how they will sound. I guess there is a good chance they will be using completely different drivers from their Pro line because of the impedance, but my money says they sound better than most, if not all, gaming headsets. I still think a mid-fi or hi-fi set of cans with a separate mic would yield better results, especially for music and portability. You don't even have to mod a microphone to a pair of headsets because you can just buy a decent desktop microphone and yield the same results. By desktop microphone I mean one such as this: http://www.shopbot.ca/p-14570.html

I've used the usb and mini version of that mic and it's just not as clear as a mic positioned inches from your mouth for online gaming.

True but there are desktop mics that fair very well. I actually use my speakers and I have my Sennheiser PC161 headset that I wear around my neck so I can use the mic on it.

ide say $200 since i got my 770 pro for $150 out the door at gc but it was yellow tagged so ide imagine that would mean probly $300 retail to be realistic (or more since the euro keeps going past the $)

$440 is the retail price. BD just got them in and no resellers yet.

I should have a set in the next couple of weeks.

I just use a desktop MIC with my 770 Pro and 80 is fine for me. Get the new "Cloverfield" Demo? It might be a long time before I dump my X-Fi. This is a New (Godzilla like) Monster movie. They have a Site (01-18-08.com) with Pics and after 6 mins the Monster's Roar comes out of No Where Caught me wayyyy of guard LOL! I forgot I was wearing my Cans.

I also still have a good appreciation for my old Philips HP890's but they don't have the BA-Ba-BASS! Like the DT770's
