I guess my main question's whether or not you guys have warm or hot heatpipes on your TRUE's. Most of you seem to be running quads, so surely it'll be warmer.

    Thanks!
only time i might feel any warmth from the heatpipes was when i was P95 my quad @3.8Ghz....at idle, feels cool to the touch.

As Ace would say, it all depends on what you're doing with it.
At least update to the newest Official BIOS (v11).

Thanks guys. I went back and set up Vista on Intel's Matrix Array system. I created a volume for my programs and a second one for storage. Both are Raid 0. I bumped up the voltage to the SB like many said, and I got a stable array. I found out that many also had to enable VWBC in order to get high speeds, so I'm not worried about that anymore.

I found that 12.B02 was not stable and would not allow previous memory timings so went back to 12.B01 which has worked well with the Q6600 ...

12.B01 works with memset 3.3 beta

i think a lot has to do with the modules you have installed...i am using 12.B02 and it is fine with me...i am running Teamgroup ddr1000 @980Mhz; SPD is prgrammed for 5-7-7-20-30 at 1000Mhz...i am at 4-4-4-12-20 and it is flawless up to now...no BSOD, no window freezes, no programs closing out on me...now...if i was a game-ster, it might not like those settings.

it all comes down to what your particular tasks you need to do with your computer and whether you have the right memory modules to accomplish it...i know there is another beta (15AT.B01) floating around (only for a few select have it, ATM) but it is not any better in memory speed..that new beta bios makes it compatible with more memory modules and allows better sychronization with 4 sticks of memory at default speed....i was told that it allowed for ddr1100 speed at default cpu clock speed...darn good if you don't intend to overclock!

This maybe the case .. what I found was that the 12.B02 would not allow for the GeIL modules to run the same timings, like it would not boot at 4-3-3-8 1T where as the 12.B01 does .. hence this is the one for my setup, in any case the Abit has allowed my various components to OC further and better than my other current P35/P965/680i boards and all this stock ... i.e. no vmods .... nice one Abit

Would be good to try the next Beta

here you go...spoon feeding at its best!

EDIT:...this is for idle conditions...to prime: raise vcore to 1.59 (+,-), ICHIO to at least 1.8-1.9v; MCH to around 1.65v or 1.7v...also, consider increasing your vdimm to around 2.3v

i can do P95 at 3.8Mhz but the vcore has to be higher than what is above...i have to set 1.59 vcore to hold about 1.5v actual in order to P95 at 3.8Ghz.

the 1.51v is for idle conditions stuff...works fine for me since i am not gaming.

hey guys...thought you might want to take a look at the difference between a kentsfield and yorkfield at the same operating specs doing video encoding bench...significant difference in results for only doing about 3Ghz.

Hey Ace, I just checked Abit's eRMA site and it has an RMA number along with my request number. I am not at hoem to check my email but I am guessing they agree with you and the board is bad. I will wait to see about an email before I Paypal them the cross-ship funds though.

just got my board back from RMA, the first thing i did was the Ace-A-Rue mod something i did not do with my last one and i'm running 500x8 with kool temps all around (i'm using H2O to cool the cpu) any way the vdroop on this board is worst than my last one Bios settings 1.62 actual 1.56 two questions

1st is should i do the vdroop and see if i can get higher oc or should i be content with what i got since it is running perefectly
my temps idle are cpu 28, mobo chip 29, pwm 29, my sys is next to a window which i cracked open a bit and since i live in WA state temsp are pretty cool right now. under load temps stay pretty cool also

2nd BIOS is B10 any need to upgrade?

i know what you guys can offer is more on the form of opinions since sys is running great just like to hear what others think, thx for the great help on this thread

if you are happy with a 4Ghz overclock, why tempt fate!

i think the first bios "10" was not compatible with a Raid Array and vista...up to you about upgrading.

EDIT:...how are you measuring the Vdrop?

I wonder how long it will take to get the new board? I am going on vacation in a couple of weeks and would hate to see that cut into the 30 days.
