I like it as an overclocking Benchmark. It gives you a nice indication of how much better your fine tuning is going to get that last 0.01% increase from your CPU.

It also gives a decent indication of how much better the same platform increases with newer revisions of the same core.

This is true.

IIRC, intel CPUs have tended to be faster at superpi anyway haven't they?
