wasnt there a b0/1/2/3 c2d, people need to spreed out their naming

and if i remebr the c2d has some 300+ errors that arnt going to be fixed, while the manchester x2 had 8x so amd is not changing platforms so im guessing that the memory controller is the problem, but i realy want to see what the new controller can do with some solid 800mhz cas 4 or 1066 cas5 @1T

.....HOWEVER.....I did manage to land the s3992's big brother: the s3993

Say hello to the Tyan Transport GT24. Built for AMD by Colfax, this rig contains a custom bios named "Anaheim" which was modified in-house by AMD themselves. The s3993 (also called the Tyan Thunder H2100R) is based on the Broadcom/Serverworks BCM21000 chipset with a BCM5785 southbridge. It features an onboard LSI1064E SAS Controller and onboard graphics powered by ATI's ES1000 controller. Currently it has 8gb of Reg. Ecc. DDR2 (yeah I know, but there's nothing I can do about that ) with the ability to support up to 32GB. Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention...this board also has a split power plane design I'll try to install the OS tonight, but it's getting late....I promise though, we'll have some benches soon

but yeah I think that it may differ from CPU-Z showing.
On Anandtech, K10 2.5GHz ES shows stepping 2 on CPU-Z,
    and revision is grey-out.
I suspect 2.5GHz ES may be "Stepping BA", only just speculation.

Anyway I still have a little, a very little hope for newer stepping & BIOS
No, the 2.5G Phenom from Anandtech is a stepping B2...I'm positive of that

EDIT: Oh yeah, and in regards to the BA stepping - I stand corrected. But one thing is for sure....AMD doesn't list ANY cpu's on their site if it doesn't reach production levels. If you can find it on the site, it means that they're officially being produced.....

Still I'm confused whether B2 and BA is identical or not, but ok, time will tell

And nice to see such a specialized rig!!!

Sexy board there S7! Are those dual layers of small fan in the front BTW? Noted (spelling?) that power area around the sockets look diffrent, now I know what dual power plans look like. Same monting as 939, hum tuniqs should work right? Along with almost every boltthru heatsink for 939

Nice, I have a s3992 (TA26) here. What clockchip does the s3223 use? I tried to modify the fsb-speed but neighter setfsb nor systool supports the clockchip used in s3992.

Looking forward to your results/review cause i bought thet server with barcelona in mind.

It looks like someone has just made a batch programme that runs that benchmark test. It is a bit strange they didn't mention the test files themselves are someone elses work.

Anyway, I can't wait to see some numbers of Barcelona doing those x264 tests.

After checking your link, I think AMD is adding to the confusion as they first list BA as a "stepping" and then when you click on a specific cpu, they call it "revision". There's a difference between the two.....

That fan config is a typical cooling solution for a 1u server. It'd be quite difficult to fit 80mm fans in a case which is 1.75" tall Yep, same mounting as 939 as well as my l1n64...just in case you missed my old thread:

I'll try to fit them in this 1u

I'm not surprised it didn't work. Not many people would have the info to write code for this board as it's a bit obscure/rare. This board uses a Winbond PC87417 as it's clock generator....

Wasn't surprised as well, not may people want to overclock such a server and i was just curious about the possibilities.

But all the smbus interface info is well documenten in here for the s3992 clockchip aka ICS932S801.

Is there an open source tool for fsb manipulation available?

    LOL....

I could get these to fit, but the problem is the mounting bracket. Seems as if the 1u mounting hole spacing is MUCH wider than the standard opterons'. If I want to use these coolers, I'll have to fab a hold-down with the proper mounting holes. I guess for now, I'll just have to use the stock coolers the board came with.....

these will be worse than K8 with B1 and DDR667,
we should wait for a FASN8 board before benching these

    hehe true.

To be fair, it's not the score that counts it's how low you can get PI on the Platform of Choice.

So to me, it's how well they will overclock

Surprise, surprise.....I just got an updated bios sent to me for the Asus L1N64 which includes the microcode for k10....now I'm torn whether to try this server first or to go back to the asus and see if the new bios works....BTW, the bios isn't an official Asus rev....

Oh, btw...I don't think any of the futuremark benches will run on 64-bit 2k3 server. I could try 32-bit 2k3 enterprise, but I don't know if they'll be issues with it. I was told 2k3 64bit should run without a hitch.....
