    Got my DS3R yesterday.

    running my X3210 @ 3.6ghz now.

i am dumbfounded and peeved that gigabyte still uses the retarde +2 +3. +4 etc etc voltage settings.

also even more appauling is the fact that you have to overvolt in the bios for vcore to get the proper voltage.

    and not a little, alot.
    1.56 = 1.48v retarded.

i also had a helluva time installing windows, infact probably the hardest time i have had in years.

lastly,,,, and again VERY shocked and pissed off that gigabyte did this sh|te again.

they are shoving all the key hardware items on the same fvcking IRQ's.
NIC's Sound cards, Video cards all need their own isolated IRQ god damn it!
    gigabyte WAKE THE FRICK UP!!!

    Richard -
long time no talk bud how ya been?

I'm on the F4 bios now
is there any overclocking or stability reason to go to the F6a ?????

Im using F5 official. Fixed performance issues with 2900XT for me. Not much else seems different. I hate the lack of a pencil vdroop fix. Missing my p5b-d...

Not sure if its my board or what but machine crashed crunching in the middle of the night and now even at stock speeds I am getting so many errors I can not even get windows installed without errors at stock speed. I think linux said cpu soft error on the screen when I went in there yesterday morning and I have had no luck getting linux or windows installed, I tried all day yesterday. I tried a pci video card since the 2900 was hanging at boot, I tried a new raptor 150 hard drive so far. Must be the cpu ram or MB.

Edit: Update got a bad stick of G. Skill HZ....

Earlier in this thread, several people said the Vmod from VR-Zone doesn't work. Actually the voltage drop if you do it

It is also confirmed on the VR-Zone forum.

    GA-P35-DS3R
    E6750
    2GB (2x1GB) Crucial Ballastix (Micron D9GMH)

    8800GTS 320mb superclock
    vista home premium 32 bit

i got corsairhx520w psu and the HD wd 7200rpm sata 250gb and cd/dvd and the case - heavily modded x-cruiser

    what can i expect

i would like 3.2 GHz stable can I expect that?

    what should i know?

any bios flashes to take care of for mobo/gpu?

Hi BTK - not sure if anyone has responded to your post, so here goes -

I am using a GA P35-DS3 (F4 bios) with an E6750 at 3.2gig @ 1.37 volts - with stock intel cooler it idles at 28-32 deg and loaded (Orthos) 48-52 deg.

So in answer to your question, 3.2 stable, I say yes, in fact you could probably go to 3.4 - 3.6 or higher with the cooler you have ordered. I am very impressed with the stability and performance of my system.

BTW for 3.2gig - set the FSB to 400 and mem to 1:1 (2.0 in bios) which runs your PC6400 (800mhz) RAM at rated speed - with micron chips your RAM could probably run much higher.

    I am using Corsair PC6400 5,5,5,18 - pretty cheap, but I can overclock to over 500mhz (DDR1000) with Vdimm @ 2.1 volts.

Not much else to add - its a straight forward setup - whci should give you good results.

Good luck with your new rig

    thats what i thought,

i have said this time and time again and i'm NOT afraid to say it again.

Shamino posts those pictures and doesnt test them, he is GUESSING that those mods are working.

i was going to say this when i posted the picture but i didnt.

Shamino's original 965 DS3 mod would blow up your motherboard, litterally, it would kill it.

so why he still does it.

well, in my eyes that shows he doesnt give a sh|t .

    oh well.

Doesnt work. I posted some things when I first got it. That mod actually lowers your voltage.

    Woo Hoo...ok now that's wierd

Your not going to believe this, but.....

After making some changes Standby -S3 worked overnight for the first time.

I had to change the Vcore to 1.34375

Funny thing is 1.35000 is not stable, nor is any higher voltage up to 1.36250.

According to all my monitoring programs 1.34375 is a slight increase in voltage under load compared to the Auto setting.

Does anyone know where to read Vcore externally on the GA-P35-DS3P with a VOM?

It'll take a while before I am 100% sure this is completely stable. But it is 2 hours Othos stable so far.

I plan on passing this info on to Gigabyte as soon as I have this verified.

    Update

It worked once but another 4 hours later it failed. So although this is closer to working correctly. It still does not work.

well i dont plan on keeping this cpu more than a year lol

if intel comes up with a 5.0 i'll buy it today10
my cpu is lapped no more warranty if it burns it burns
only thing i concerned about is power consumption lol
wont be the first cpu i burned wont be the last lol
when i'm not gaming i turn it down to 3.7
but i will do more testing since augmenting pcie volts helpin i will find how high it can go till my 6850 cries for mercy
