short circuit, badd dimm slot,... if you can wait for an RMA, then RMA the board , if it runs fine with the current setup and you don't want to wait for weeks keep it....

Like I said on hardforum there's no cure for this mate, just another board can solve it

    Anyone with the same problem?

    Thanks
i had this SAME exact issue, was at 0901, ran asus update with 1102 bios, and rebooted machine...then nothing. I tried changing/adding/removing memory, different cpu, new video card. All that would happen it stay stuck at dram testing, and the board would continue to 'reset' itself over and over.

i was unable to determine the problem, i even tried reprogramming the bios through htoswapping on another board, and still nothing

i had to rma the board through my local vendor. luckily, the board that i got back was already 1102.

i will never update bios in windows again.

Sorry it took so long to reply back.
I changed the value accordlingly , and I am running at 3.6 ..
Using vista..so can't use orthos to check it.. I was using
the nvida's stability test thingy.. and it seem fine with that...

    Asus prob:
    1.2VHT is at 1.49v
    CPU VTT is at 1.42v
    NB core is at 1.50v

Glad you got it working now mate, each board has about the same settings normally but there can be some minor deviations...

    Good job fella

I have very low memory performance on this mobo, at 880MHz @ 8-3-3-3 i had on EVGA 11 000MB/s in Everest, on Striker only 9000MB/s ... where is problem?

Can someone post detailed timing setting for good performance?

Was it the same Everest edition OBR ? I just tested with some cheap Gskill ram at 800mhz 5-5-5-15 2T (CPU at 3ghz) I have 9000 on Everest ultimate edition 2007, will put the OCZ in and test at 800mhz 3-3-3-9 1T brb cpu at 3600mhz (4 x 900 ) the result :

The OCZ ram I have wouldn't boot above 830mhz with these timings at 2.3 volts so I kept them at 800mhz

    Now i set CPU 435x9 - 3500MHz, RAM @ 10-4-4-4-1T at 875MHz and TRC 24, my score is 9600MB/s ... read!
On EVGA at 800@ 8-3-3-3-2T i have 10300MB/s ... where is problem with Striker?

try 400FSB at 400 *9 so at 3600mhz not 8 x you are using now, there's a strap change 450 x 8 wasn't faster than 9 x 400 , maybe it's different on each board ( set in bios prolly ) see if you can match my scores then, also what version of everest are you running ? each version has different scores and are not comparable...

If you want my version just pm me

Hipro5 and co said the bios still has it flaws so we will have to wait, I really don't see the point in these comments, hipro5 only claimed it works loads better with his quadcore overclocks...don't know if there's anything magical about it, as the current release 1102 is pretty good of rmost users...

I hope Nvidia releases a bugless chipset now and not a pushed due to the release of 8900 series vidcard... All these probs were due to an immature chipset and the non reference design... for me the P35 works really well and Nvidia has to give us something much better to get me to buy another release from them...

I stay with the claim that Intel belongs on Intel... Striker was fun but 680i Nvidia chipset was overhyped, nuff said...

It's like in the Neoseeekr review, the Striker is a good baord that get's better as time evolves... just keep it cool and hopefully this new release will unleash the quadcores potential... fingers crossed

Welll I would like to thank you for this guide ,and the many others that have made similar 680i guides in this forums, jumping from AMD to my first Intel setup ,I was allmost going to give up trying to overclock My B3 6600 quad.

After a few weeks and a million Reboots I have got my Quad stable @ 3.6GHZ on an 8X multi http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=230948

    I passed a 3 hour loop of 3D Marks and a 2 day weekend session of BF2 .

    Hi Leeghoofd

Do you think your settings for E6600 above will work with a Q 6600 + striker extreme?

    Currently I'm stuck at

    Stable = 3Ghz, FSB 1333 1.2v, 335.7 x 9, RAM 416.7 MHz FSB Dram 4:5 5-4-4-19 Auto.
    Un-Stable = 3.1GHz, FSB 1378 1.35v, 344.5 x 9, RAM 430.6 MHz FSB Dram FSB Dram 4:5 5-4-4-20 Auto

Some users say there holes so I should just go higher with more Volts?

Any help appreciated, Optical10. how is the second cube coming along?

I don't think the Striker and Quads are going along well mate, I just got my GO q6600 and it's folding on 4 cores now to get it burned in...

I quickly tried to boot at 1600FSB but that was a no go ( which I expected ) I'm awaiting my radiator and gonna put PWM and co under water and then try to push harder... but I think I'm gonna hard lock at around 360-370FSB... with 9 multi, like Revhead many users have had good succes with 425/450 FSB and alower multi but the CPU's need some time to get there...

    Keep ya posted

Just to let you know the Striker does not use a digital high temp PWM, so water is way overkill, and risky as many of those blocks have been reported to damage the chips themselves.

I use the thermalright mosfet coolers, with some minor modification, they fit nicely, and can be used passively, or if you are freaky about temps, like me, (and like you if you are thinking about water) just postion an 80mm fan on your waterblock to blow past them.

I had a hard time with X9 multi on the 1303 bios, things would seem stable, like OCCT would pass, a few hours of prime would pass, but when I started crunching numbers on WCG, it would fail. I was abale to stabalize at the same volts on a 450x8 multi, than I was on a 400x9, riddle me that? I do not know why it wanted a higher FSB for the same clock and volts.

The bios does have huge holes in it right now. The 1305 bios was completely unusable. It would not post really anywhere but stock for me.

Will keep that in mind Linflas, but I'm doing NB and SB cooling on water, I can add the PWM's later on if required, but I'm aware of extrea support brackets to be made to avoid the board from bending...

Tried to boot at 450FSB and it did, windows was borked though so I'll need to give it some more tweaking...

i will be rebuilding my whole rig tomorrow night, loop is going on 16 months now, time to change tubing, and give everything a clean out. Adding a new loop as well to try and push a 4ghz clock on the 6600. Will shoot some shots of the rebuild and post tomorrow night.

anything magic to get into windows ? as it said it misses some files ( in system folder) to get working... at 450FSB (memtest works fine), I dopped multi to 6X to exclude Cpu Vcore

    CPU VCORE 1.4
    1.2HTT : 1.4
    NB 1.4 - 1.55 tried
    SB 1.55
    CPU VTT 1.4

Vcore 1.5 (actual is then 1.4)
    Htt 1.3
    FSB 1.45
    SB 1.65
    Vtt 1.4

450x8 memory @ 800 for the divider, the 1:1 did not work for me with 4 dimms.

Let us know how it goes.

Needs 1.5VTT volt to get into windows, but hardlocks after a few secs... where's my radiator
