Hi, the mobo has arrived yesterday.
The cpu 1 month ago, RAM and VGA has 1 year of life.
After a "non start" with the ram in the yellow slots, I have put the ram in the green slots and the the mobo is started.
I have install Windows+sp2 ecc and after 1 hour the pc has freeze.
I have try everithing, single channel ram, change the vga in the secon pci slot, clear c-mos but the mobo didn't start.
This morning the mobo has started again after remove the battery but after 1 hour same problem as yesterday
    Now he don't boot
    I don't know how I can do
In 2 days only 2 hours running

I am glad I am learning all of this now before my setup gets here this week. I am starting to thing the build isn't going to be as smooth as originally assumed.

    Many tks!
7f means it stopped @ vga, but there could be many things that could have caused that. A cmos clear should bring it to boot, if all else including the video card works...

I would say your windows freezeing is just a stability/settings problem are you overclocked ?

Are you using EZ Clear properly i.e with power to the board as it wont work without power ?

Remember you have to have power to the board to use EZ Clear it will not clear CMOS with the PSU switched off. Hold reset down, then hold power down too wait 4+ seconds release power then reset then hit power to boot. It will then boot & power off then boot & allow you back in CMOS.

Also something Eva showed me, If you just want to reset the fsb as you over cooked it power down hold down home & power back on, the rig will boot then power off you then let the home key go & it will re-boot & allow you to hit del to get back in the BIOS.

I just remembered that Tony has seen this no display issue with his 8800 gtx's, he got around it and got it all to work again, but I think he had more vga's to test with and rectify. Most likely to me is the PSU. He is on holiday ATM and will be back in a couple of days.. In the meantime you can rma if you wish.. I cannot help further as I am not running the board at present, I will be up and running soon hopefully.

    regards

If using all stock voltages the issue is probably ram voltage since switching ram slots allowed the board to boot. From the sound of things the BIOS most likely is being corrupted because of this. I have used at least 5 different types of ram and with the board properly configured the slots used make no difference when booting.

U4 is not a valid code. If a long CMOS clear will not bring it back an RMA is going to be your only option.

Well, I got mine ordered. Should be here monday/tuesday. We shall see if it can stand up to the test of time like my DFI SLI-DR expert has.

I am off the wagon gents. I'm going to sell mine w/Corsair DDR2-1141 & x6800.

The board is sweet looking and I dig the BIOS options, but I just am not in the mood to rip apart my rig along with my WC loop.

    Wait a sec...

You bought the board, and now you are selling it without ever having used it? Doesn't sound like you were ever on the wagon in the first place. hehe

It was a hard decision to make, but with X38 around the corner, I think I made a poor decision. The board seems excellent, but ripping up my machine for the 3rd time in 3 months is just exhausting.

If i dont have two videocards, will plugging in the floppy power connectors help stability at all or are they totally unnecessary?

Not sure of what you are asking here. Are you referring to the IHS? Intel IHS has been soldered on or very difficult to remove for quite some time now. Testing has shown naked vs IHS has not given much of a clock boost, if any.

This is of course when dealing with a properly lapped IHS. The same was true of my X2 4400 I'm currently running. After I popped the IHS off, I was getting substantially lower temps (7c lower using a storm), but I did not achieve a higher clock speed as a result. Granted the X2's are a completely different animal.

Is that what you were asking?
