I've got a bug, but it's a good one
I have not yet done the SLI mod, but it looks like I'll never have to. My Ultra-D automatically gives me the SLI option and recognises as a SLI-Ready Board :P

alrighty ive been having trouble pushy im opty 148. ive got the ultra-d board. i just got done flashing it with the newest bios from DFI's website. and well. im still having trouble.
i cant get past 290fsb.... il admit im using a 2/3 ram divder, so my ram is running at a nice cozzy 200mhz.
of course i have NO IDEA what half the ram timings mean, and if i leave them at default, it will set them to the stock settings for the rams DDR 266 speed, when its really running at DDR400, so no good.
the chip is being cooled with a sycth nija, and im ging it up to 1.525 volts in bios, ive got a nice 620wat PSU...
the chip is prime stable up to 10X290. but wont even get into windows at 9X300. ive got the ldt set at 3x jsut to be sure, and i pump up the ltd and NB volts to. but still no windows post.
if someone could help with my newbness itd be great.
of course i guess my chip could be limted at 2.9ghz and also 290fsb ( its not stable at 273X11 either.)
anyideas?
much thanks
levi
Actually, your Aspire PSU isn't quite the best in the world... but anyways, I'd go to the OCZ section and ask them for some help timing your ram.
well this is a bit embazing i really have gskill ram *blushes* tiumings etc... are the same, but damn i feel dumb lol.
i know the PSU a killer one, but with this rig fully oced, non of the rails drop below there voltage even when running 3dmarks05, so i doubt its holding me back....
but im for sure going to the gskill section for timings help(didnt even now that XS those sections, man i feel dumb again :P). THANK YOU!!!!
levi
Yeah, um I have no clue where I came up or "Saw" that OCZ. G.Skill Ram is great. What do you have? I'd definately go to the G.Skill section. They're great.
Well it uses the "same" chip as SLI-D,R i checked my board that i bought 2 days ago and it has the bridges for SLI mod already connected ;F , DFI markets it DXG(Dual Xpress Graphics) , it is supposed to be 16X and 4x or 2 times 8X in SLI mode , but i didn't test it yet.Can somebody with the "new" Ultra-D test it ?Originally Posted by LordofDoom
Yeah, I think it's the new ones that have SLI auto enabled![]()
I feel strange posting here... But here it goes:
MY DFI lanaprty ultra-d nf4 was workign fine. I put a new heatsink on cpu, resetting the pc a few times.
problem:
When booting, messege about cmos corruption - defaults will be loaded pops up. System boots fine. Will not boot again after shut down: 4 red lights.
Basicly, with or without the battery: If any setting is changed in bios, system will not boot but hang on the 4 red lights.
remedy: turn off psu, turn on psu, boot with defaults, get in windows -ok to use. repeat.
Tried bios flashing.
ps: The CMOS reloaded settings do not disapear (The preconfig banks) even after all is reset and cleared.
Thanks!

I am really stuck right now.
I flashed the proper bios into my DFI Ultra2-M2 and then reset it, waited a minute or two then realized I needed to reset my CMOS.
So I read up on that, and have done it about 5 times. Nothing works. It was booting up before, it was just really unstable. Now I can't get to ANYTHING. What can I do to fix this problem! Thanks!!!
Does anybody have nF4 + Hynix DDR2 combination?
Can it works?
A GOOD friend will come bail you out of jail
A TRUE friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn we ****ed up!!"
can anybody suggest a bios for DFI lanparty Expert S939 and Tccd Memory's ?
Spacehead, can yuou give me download address, please?![]()
Has anyone ran into Windows Shutdown issues with this board?
When I overclock, Windows will not shutdown properly. It gets to the "Windows is Shutting Down" just fine, its just that the board doesn't shut down. I have to manually shut it off.
Just wondering if someone found a quick/easy fix for that. I tried to troubleshoot it but couldn't figure out what it was... what made it harder was that sometimes when I went back to normal (non overclocking) settings it did not shut down properly once in a while... for months beforehand it never had a problem like that.
Edit: Its Windows XP.
does anybody where i can get 704-1BTA bios?i cant find it anywhere

Try this link. Dont know if they have the bios you're looking for but they have a multitude listed

Here's what I'm working with:
LanParty UT nF4-D (modded to SLI & SATAII) (BIOS Date Code 2005/11/14)
AMD 3700+ San Diego
1GB (2X512) OCZ DDR500
WD Raptor 150
BFG 7600 GT OC
X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Floppy
OC @ 2.7, 1:1 RAM Prime stable for 18+ hrs.
The system runs great, but there is an annoying message during post stating that "the boot devices have been changed" and to press F1 to continue or Delete to enter BIOS.
The Raptor is the 1st boot device, and I've changed nothing since OS install (XP Pro.) and every time I look at the BIOS settings, they are unchanged, yet I still get this message. While this wouldn't bother me much, I'm building this for my nephew and would really like to get rid of this issue. FWIW the Raptor also shows up as a removeable device in the taskbar.
I've never seen this behavior before, and the only new parts are a "SATA II Compatible" data cable for the Raptor. Any pointers? Is the OS recognizing the RAptor as a removeable device the issue? Update BIOS?
Whaddaya think, fellas? Thanks!
I got that when I unpluged my cdrom once. Yours is a little stranger. Have you tried changing the priority, rebooting and then changing it back when it posts.
I need to get this board above 355 MHz HTT. This Opty 144 i'm using right now will max the board out. Yes, i seem to have a problem.
Everything in the sig is what i'm using, other than the processor, which is a CAB2E 0619 SPMW opty 144, which seems to clock pretty well. I can NOT get this board above 355, and its really making me angry.

Ugh, I'm sorry, this board was just such a freakin' mess. I spent 5 hours trying to get it to POST once. Just ONCE. I put a working X2 chip in it, a working 2GB of RAM and a working video card, connected to a more-than-capable PSU (in particular, an Antec supply with 2 16A +12V rails). Played with every jumper setting on the thing, but it would NOT POST even ONCE. Not even beep codes. Nothing.
Then out of nowhere, BAM, it POST'ed. Then it stopped again. Started again .. stopped again. Consulted DFI's forums, and they said my PSU was bad. They said I needed some outlandish thing because the board itself consumes 16A (Horse.) Everyone on that forum is an idiot and the forum only exists because DFI's tech support team can then ignore their customers. The idiot forum even told me to use a '420W PSU' or higher, even though average wattage is a worthless figure. For comparison I hooked up my '420W' PSU, a 14A, single-rail Thermaltake supply, and it still didn't work. Of course.
Picked up an MSI K8N Neo4, dropped in the same CPU, RAM and Video Card, didn't touch a single jumper, just powered it on. Worked perfectly and kept on working perfectly. Seeing as it's become known on SH/SC as the DFI NF4 "Oh my holywhy the
won't this work

" Ultra-D I doubt this is just bad luck on my part.. the board may be a good overclocker but it's just garbage.

So you got a bad board. It happens, just to be fair I have the same MSI and it wont do dual channel or 1T command at any settings. Stuck the same cpu and ram into a DFI and got both to work without trouble. It also Overclock a little higher. You got a bad board, I got a bad board, Sh]]t happens
