I just hit 100K boinc points! It took a lot longer than I wanted, but I'm still limping along with my cruncher rig and 700m laptop while my main rig is down due to EVGA givin me the big one with my motherboard. On the plus side though, I just received a Q6600 I bought from dave_graham, and there's already one in that batch that I've seen do 3.6ghz under water. I can't wait to rebuild my main rig with this thing!
Main Rig:
Q6600 G0 @3.7ghz 1.425V - EVGA 680i A1 (Vdroop mod) - 4GB G.Skill HZ DDR2-800 @1000mhz - EVGA 8800 Ultra SLI @710/2460mhz - 2x WD Raptor X 150GB RAID 0 - 2x WD 500GB RAID 1 - 1x WD 320GB eSATA External - SB X-Fi XtremeMusic - Enermax Galaxy DXX 1000W - NEC 16X DVD±RW DL - 2x Dell 2405FPW (Dual monitor w/ SLI!) - ATI Radeon X300 - MM U2-UFO Horizon
Dual loops:
D-Tek FuZion (Bowed) - PA120.3 - Dual DDC2+ w/ PT tops - Swiftech MicroRes - Distilled w/ Red UV dye
2x EK FC8800 - DD680i NB - PA120.2 - Dual DDC2+ w/ PT tops - Swiftech MicroRes - G11 UV
Temps: 28-29degC idle / 46-48degC load with MX-2! Pics of my build!
Dedicated Cruncher:
Lapped E6600 @3.6ghz - MSI P35 Platinum - 2GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 @933mhz - MSI 8500GT - 320GB WD - Lapped Big Typhoon - Seasonic M12 700W
Well guys guess what... i am now @ 35k lol...and the best part is from the start i have only been running my Quad@60% lol.![]()

Why not run 100% all of the time. My main system has a quad-core. It runs BOINC and many other things.
Your system will generate more heat and your electricity might go up a little. But you will generate a lot more points running at 100%.
Great![]()
yea, havent really been active on the forums, just actively reading
ive passed the half million mark (bout 2 days ago) and am averaging about 25k per day... trying to get more! but ive only been here for a little over a month, and am rapidly climbing the ladder here.![]()
for the glory of bardob!

LOL come on man, please dont do it!!!! I just need a little time. Trying to figure out if id be better with a true quad, or 2 cheaper AMD 2 bangers. Was thinking that if i could figure how ta work an extra 10 hours while on on my next hitch at work, I could pay for at least a AMD dual setup, with out slowing down my payments on the E6850. On the bright side im gonna bring my 19" flatpanel home so i can get my AMD 2700 on line. That would add a bit more.

No worries Gators have thick skin. And very tiny brains. So i doubt there is gonna be a problem.

I suggest a Q6600 if its gonna crunch.
I have a few of each type-
As an example since I started back up and the Quads(q6600 and qx6700) have done about 140+ each since the Aug 28th (Not at 100% dedicated) the AMD 6000+'s have done 104 and 72. The 72 count unit doubles as my main home server for 3 weather stations, DNS, web, email etc...
Just my two cents and ever growing electric bill, cant wait for some cold Texas winter days to try out my new collection of heaters![]()
Thanks for your help. The message sometimes gets lost but we really do appreciate all the help you guys give.
There's so many plusses to this. The science is the main one but then there is the people that you meet through this.Just great folks. They all have one thing in common and that is they are "giving" people.
You know what I mean. We meet too many of the other kind every day.
Then there is the side benefit of the boost that it gives to Xs.
People in high places start to see what was perceived to be just an overclockers forum in a new way. A community of people that are trying to help the next generation. There isn't a price you can put on that.
Ok, enough for one night before my fingers give out.![]()

WTF are those???? Its been so long since ive seen cold weather i forgot what it was like. Kinda like sex, its been so long I forgot who gets tied up. I drove up to Ohio lats jan, and it was in the 50s. That was pretty nice but not what id consider cold. Any way at least in a month or so it wont be quite as hot. I hope.
