    - in either case, contacting local ASUS Support Center is another suggestion.
    - they will send you a replacement BIOS chip. (only costs $1 in the USA)
    - you have to send your old BIOS chip back to them, otherwise, there is an additional charge. ($20 in the USA)

"ALT-F2" will work, only if the "safe-Boot-Block" area in BIOS was not damaged.

    see past post for details:

They will send me new unflashed bios o already flashed, just please tell me more, i`m going to pick the third suggestion (20$), my parents live in usa, i`m just studying abroad. they will order and then will sent to me.

It will be flashed. I am still willing to hotflash for you if it is worth the shipping costs. I will do it for free for you just pay the shipping...

I'm running the Corsair Nautilus 500, which I understand it to not being a very good water cooler, only decent, but pretty good compared to air coolers. I'll try checking my temps again with the programs I see you running in the screenshot.

So, about bios from asus, when i will get the chip, i must change to my old, and my system will boot? am i right?

They should send it with the latest non beta bios so I would say possibly 2004 or maybe one higher but your system will boot. Just go get the chip hotflashed in the same MOBO and do not worry about another chip... Just use AFUDOS in the future and you will be good to go... From now on do not use any custom bios unless you have a backup chip to play with...

Never ever use Asus Windows update for this board.. There is a serious flaw and you risk wiping your bios chip and ending up with a black screen.

You can use Floopy and or flash drive. if you use floppy, you need 2 disks, 1 for a boot disk and the other for the AFUDOS.exe and the .rom file... If you use flash drive you can put all the files on there and just boot from the flash drive as long as it is a bootable one...

    What 'flaw'. Details please.
I use AU on 2 boards, never encountered any flaw. Maybe people forget to reset BIOS to defaults before updating (which is i believe recommended)?

Defaults means nothing, tried it still screw my chip, I used Asus update on every other Asus mobo I have ever owned and that is at least 6, Asus update will kill the bios chip on this board, read the posts in this thread. Tis FLAWED...

If you care to use this to flash go for it, but when you corrupt your bios do not say i did not say I told you so...

More here and prob one of the best posts on this board I have yet to find:

    I steel can't reach 415 fsb
    I tried everything
    set voltages to high leve
    lowered multipiler
    lowered Ram frequancy
    steel nothing
it means that mobo is blocking 415 fsb
how do people pass the 415 fsb limit?

    Fan for NorthBridge

What size fan fits nice on the NB heatsink? I'm going to remove the cover and put one on there. I'm guessing a 40mm fan is the right size?

Can't hurt. The sensor for the motherboard temp is very close to the SB (as previously indicated by Bichi), so any additional airflow around that area should help to drop the temps reported.

I don't have room to fit one as the fan shroud on my gfx card sits above the SB and there's not enough clearance. Looking for a decent replacement SB heatsink that will fit (using the original on another motherboard). Going to try the EnzoTech SB heatsink - will require a bit of modding to fit though as the hole distance is not quite short enough. At least it's another chance to use the new Dremel

Currently using the HR-05 SLi, but it's overkill and not the best-looking.

    Hi,

I tried to flash bios by afudos with parameters:
    afudos /i.....rom /p /b /n /n /reboot
and there was only the message:
    USAGE: afudos /i<ROM filename> [/o<save ROM filename>]
    What is wrong?

"would not use the /pb if I were you... it reflashes the boot block. This is normally read-only and is where the "Crash Free BIOS" code resides. If you flash with /pb and have a failure, you will not be able to recover (this happened to me ).

The only time the boot block needs updating is when there are changes to the boot clock code. This is pretty rare and ASUS usually provide an update exe file."

I think I wiped my boot block clean... Anyone have this for me a clean complete image of an entire bios, I do not care which version with a boot block or how to program it back to virgin?

    I love this board.
I don't overclock, but this board is very fast with a Core2duo processor.
And have a lot of features on board.

I would like an additional Intel PATA connector and some additional Intel Sata connectors (2 or 3).

My previous motherboard was the Asus P5WD2 Premium and had more connections for harddrive.

I use on my P5W DH 2 Papst 412/2 fans on my north and southbridge.
Their are very silent, but cools very well.
Only the pricetag is some negative.
