It could explain why AMD isn't ramping up clockspeeds as high as possible.

Very unlikely (to say the least), expecially after comparing the system with what Shamino and Kinc used. Ah wait, comparing seems a little exagerated cause we only have proof from Shamino and Kincand nothing on AMD's 'record breaking' system. There is a song in here somewhere..

Complete bollocks.
AMD would never hold this type of info back with their financial circumstances as they are.

Ok so let me understand 30.031 with the CPU @ 3Ghz and the cards @ 830-900 and 23.768 with the CPU @ 2.5Ghz and the cards @ the same clockspeed... O'rly
BTW: I have 3DMARK06 screens with my Nehalem but they are on my stolen PDA![]()
Anyway I hope for it to be true....
Damn:kemo6600 beat me to it![]()

Yeah that's right, in a graphic benchmark we somehow got
K10@3.0G + 2900XT CF@830/900 = 30000
C2Q@5.1G + 2900XT CF@1175/950 = 27000
Looks like AMD's 40% claim is way too conservative.
Can people get a little bit more about a thing that called "reality"?

If all people would share opinions in an objective manner, the world would be a friendlier place
What a shame...those pics are gone with his laptop...coincidence anyone?
There is NO WAY that thing scores 30k on 3mk06, not with shamino and kinc scoring 27k with ln2 and stuff like that...for christ sake guys...get real.
Its like having a 7ghz kentsfield. LOL
EDIT: No, im no intel fanboy...i use whatever has the performance to kick any other PC around...in this case i call BS.

INQ for tech reports huh?...lol....That's like getting your daily news from the Globe tabloids.....
Here read up on current events...lol

It's no different than the BS the INQ posts up most of the time....

A few oddies...
25% more 3Dmark06 with 20% more CPU clockspeed.
3.24GB in Vista. That means no remapping is done. (Odd on such a new system). Unlike XP32, 32bit Vista dont need to take the reserved space from the artificial limit of 4GB.
Also looking on the very recent scores from kinc and shamino.
3DMark Score 26454 3DMarks (2900XT CF@1175/950MHz)
SM 2.0 Score 10581 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 11798 Marks
CPU Score 8090 Marks (5119Mhz Core 2 Quad)
So we have to assume the SM2 and SM3 scores will be lower with the slower cards used. even with kinc/shaminos 100Mhz higher clocked 2900XTs, they would have to score a CPU score of 21000. Or about the same as a 12½Ghz Core 2 Quad.
Crunching for Comrades and the Common good of the People.
new cpu with new chipsets still to add to 12ghz conroe seems way out of the league.
september is just around the corner tho.
waiting...

Ok, I'm not believing this article either, but for the "impossible" guys I'm just going to come out and say...
Remember when the C2D came out? Remember how difficult it was to even hit 20k in 05 at that time? C2D came out, and people were beating the extreme cooled A64 results on air without even trying.
So is this impossible? No, it's not. Is it true? Possibly, possibly not.
p.s.
Shintai, we cannot fully assume that the gpu scores would be lower. Different platform, and IIRC in CF SM3 is VERY cpu limited and as such scales VERY well with cpu speed.

Also very interesting comments from the altest TechArp article:

Lats bit of information actually supports the Theo's leaked information on the mark06 amazing score.John says the Quad-Core Opteron systems had already been submitted to the benchmark organizations for testing. The results are all under NDA and will only be released on launch date, September 10, 2007. Because they are under NDA, he cannot reveal the actual results, but he gave us some interesting indications of how the Barcelona will eventually fare against an equivalent Intel processor.[
* 20-30% better performance overall
* 170% better performance in some benchmarks
