Don't worry about it. I haven't done any hardcore OCing since using jumpers on motherboards. Now thats old school! This is my first q6600 and probably my last unless I build ANOTHER computer in the future, but by then, I'll get a penryn.
I wish I had that much cash to buy a few q6600s to test, but since I'm a student, I honestly don't have the time/cash to do that.
I saw a lot of people getting more than 3.6 (more from my point of view that is) and figured I had a shot as well at closing the 4.0ghz gap.
In case I didn't mention, I'm OCing on water w/ a triple rad and only the CPU in the loop. At least heat isn't my enemy.
Oh, one other thing, my problem might lie in that I am trying to OC w/ 4 x 1 gig sticks instead of the usually 2. I've heard of problems due to this.
@ fallwind, I got 450x6 to post. Tried to be crazy and 475mhz failed. tried 460 and that failed too, even with 5-5-5-15. Do I need to up the voltage of the ram to support the higher mhz? Right now, I have 450x8 running prime stable for 20 mintues. I know thats not stable, but its a start. At least it didn't fail in 2 minutes like before.
@ Moons_shadow, what is your goal speed? I'm using ddr2 800 crucial ballistix ram and I am getting 3.7ghz on my quad. I can't go above this, not sure why yet. A lot of the 4.0 ghz appear to be using 1066.
I haven't see a near 4.0 ghz OC w/ ddr2 800 (maybe thats my problem, lol), but I could be wrong. Anyone out there have 3.8ghz+ w/ ddr2 800?
