Is it the lack of drivers?
when you first install an OS on a raid array, it is always best to move your CDROM to the top of the order for booting priority...if you leave the hard drive as the top choice, the bios might not fall back to 2nd priority and therefore, you get the disk boot failure...ALSO...make sure your keyboard is set to "bios" during the install.

I made sure both of those were both changed in the BIOS. Still no go. But one thing is weird. During boot it says, "Detect drives. No of any drives found." Yet the raid screen shows the volume and the drives that make it up.

I can't sign up on the Abit forum because of an unknown wait period. Why do they need to have a wait period?

It sounds like you have the wrong CD ROM selected. What kind of CD ROM do you have? Is it on the JMicron controller? Scroll down the list and see if your exact CD drive is near the bottom of the list.

Once you create a RAID array the hard drives used in the array will not show up in the SATA 1-6 list. They show up in the Intel RAID Option ROM.

I have an LG SATA DVD/CD drive. Would that mean that it is on the Intel because it is a SATA drive? (How do I determine what controller it is on) The raid is on the Intel controller for sure.

The hard drives don't show up now. It shows 1-4 sata ports show empty in the BIOS. (I think that is what you mean)

    Yeah it is!

OMG it was not there like yesterday...

I placed it before the hard drive, so not it boots from the DVD.

    Thanks,

Lets see if Vista plays nice with the raid drivers.

    Personal mosfet heatsink result

    Hi,

I have tested my mosfet rad with a B3 Q6600

3200 mhz with 1,48v in bios give 1.42v at idle and 1.37v in charge ( full load , occt 30 minute) need the vdroop mod.

the Q6600 hit 81°c and stablised ~75°c when the mosfet hit 81°c too for ~78°c stabilised.

I don't realy know if it's a good result but I found it a little bit hot , I will try again when I will received my Q6600 G0.

Is something wrong here? Is this the way the Intel Matrix raid system works?

    It is the long test.
It is from a raid 0 volume and it only had Google in the background.
I have the latest Intel chipset driver and the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

Strip size is set to 64kb.

    Hi guys!

I have an important question regarding this board. How does the "CPU GTLREF 0&2" work? Should i increase it? How much?

I am asking this beacause with the Q6600 G0 the vdroop is causing me some trouble, so i was hopping that this setting could help a little a stabilize.

    Please respond!

have you removed the little white jumper off those seagate 7200.10 drives?...removing the jumper puts it into SATA II mode.

my other thought...are you sure that you selected "Raid 0"

I did remove the jumpers, and I did select the strip (raid 0) mode in the "ctrl I" setup phase. I know this might not be a Abit problem, so I am sorry.

It just seems like they are capped some how. (I am using SATA II cables as well)

    Seatools reports normal.

Edit: How do I make sure that they are running at SATA 2 speeds?

you can try to increase it but not to much...try in 1% increments to see if it helps...do not try above 70%.

Now why can't mine do that. LOL

I can't believe you are doing this just for me.

For the life of me, I can't create the driver floppy. (I just want the array to work in one of my OS's LOL)

It looks to me you need to adjust both of them, 0&2 and 1&3 are processor cores.

    CPU GTLREF 0&2
    CPU GTLREF 1&3

And they might need to go down, or they might need to go up.

OK!....here is vista 32 bit on the Areca controller...i do not have vista installed on the Intel controller....as you can see, VERY erratic pattern which falls off dramatically.
