I have three abit IP-35 Pro boards and have tried 27 different memory modules in 4GB configurations with the same results. Anything over DDR2-1000 is a crap shoot for 24/7 operation, there are a few gates (DDR2-1020, DDR2-1063) that seem to work just fine with additional voltage but otherwise this board is picky when it comes to 4x1GB operation when overclocking, especially with the 1333FSB CPUs. This includes four different modules from Crucial. I will not even go into the 2x2GB or 4x2GB issues since a lot boards are still behind the curve. Either I am very unlucky or the test applications I am running just hate 4x1GB on this board.

    Only playing man.
Seen a lot of very informative posts from him. I think what he said just came out wrong. It will be interesting to play around with 1T though. Realistically though i know there is probably a solid reason that most DDR2 mobos don't have it implemented.

Lost points you say! All other timings the same??? I don't see how that could be the mems fault. I would be more inclined to blame it on the chipset.

Using 1T, on this board, barely earns me any more bandwitdh..

Im using Vista, non-optimized, all programs running.

    411x9, 1:1, RAM @ 822 4-4-4-12-2T, gets me 7500-7600 mbps read bandwitdh.
    411x9, 1:1, RAM @ 822 4-4-4-12-1T, gets me 8200-8300 mbps read bandwitdh.

Its really not like the 1T on 680i boards.

I tried to fire up my IP35 pro today but I cant get it post ... Everything is running but nothing shows up in the screen and the debug led shows either 8.3 or 9.0... Ive swapped rams, vidcard and cpu but it still wont post, also took out the battery for a couple of hours but still dead... Is this a symptom of corrupt bios?

Sounds like your having a little bad luck there bingo

My 2 x 2GB sets (one 6400 the other 8500) Ballistic Tracers go great @ 600MHz (1200) 24/7 that I managed to get down to 2.075Vdimm (2.20 shown in ss)

lots and lots of cores and lots and lots of tuners,HTPC's boards,cases,HDD's,vga's,DDR1&2&3 etc etc all powered by Corsair PSU's

8.3: in the manual, it says, "ATX power supply ready"

had the same thing...the system would not start up...it just flinch like with the fans and then it gave me 8.3...as soon as i unplugged the 12v to the cpu socket...it would start up...might try another PSU.

just thought of something...what voltage are you supplying the ICH 1.05v and ICHIO 1.5v?...default or something higher?
I have bumped the voltages up to middle of the road as it appeared to help overall system stability when I was messing about with the RAM over 1200mhz on the next divider.

I just left the ICH voltages up even though I don't think I need it for DDR1100 as I would rather know I have some stability headroom rather than running on the edge.

leave it unplugged for a while.... take out battery and just let it sit.

i had a similar scare yesterday too... except i was getting 8.7 code.

i determined it was my fault for trying to get the ss fired up too quickly (not enough dry time) so there was actually water around the socket i was not aware of. i let it dry, pulled battery and let it sit for 30 minutes.

tried to reboot and this time got C1 and knew it was ram at this point.

after 15 minutes or so, i got it to boot

Actually it still does it. I can't install a free Age of Empires 2 demo to see if my downloads are still corrupt. I also try to install VLC media player and can't. I am not overclocking and have everything at stock voltages. I have also put the memory in different slots and still get the problem. I also ran memtest and got 0 errors. Could it be the board?

set your memory to 2.1...you shouldn't need that much at stock speeds...2.2 is probably the max recommended...i would boost your ICH 1.05v to 1.12v and your ICHIO 1.5v to 1.60v to see if that helps...might need more umph through the chipsets to work with those drives...i had to do that with a pair of maxtor drives on my P5B Dlx.

Did the same and I got it to run but it was very unstable @ stock speed so I reflashed the bios ( not really smart lol ) and it worked... Got it to run fine but its not the same board cos my E67 can only do 530fsb , it did 560fsb just the day before....

This morning I fired it up and it wont boot again.... led shows 00 and pressing power doest do anything... I think Ill just RMA it and get a new one

Memset is only showing 2GB installed in your board at those settings. Is that an error? Crucial sent me new modules today and they still (4x1GB Ballistic Tracers) are not stable over DDR2-1063 (Vista64), no issue doing about 1260 in a 2x1GB configuration. I will try an Allendale next but so far E6600, E6750, E6850, Q6600, QX6700, and QX6850 are not working well with 4GB on this board when overclocked.

I have to say, Im really impressed with this board..

Im running 422x9, on my chip, with the following settings..

Only thing, I hate is the vDroop, Ill definately be doing the vDroop mod soon.
I hate having to set 1.57 in BIOS, for 1.49vCore Real, which droops to 1.45 under load. .

How did you get CPU-Z to show you the command rate? I set 1T in the BIOS but CPU-Z never tells me if it's set to 1T.

Is there any disadvantage in going with IP35 instead of Pro? I don't plan to keep this board for long, only until X38 & 8900GTX hit the shelves and then I'll go to SLI on X38 so I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible - however not nickeling completely.
Checking at Mwave they list it for $134 minus $25 MiR*; I'd pick up a G0 Q6600 and 2x1GB PC8500 GEiL or OCZ Reaper ($40 MiR at Mwave**) as well - any advice?

    TIA

Checking at Mwave they list it for $134 minus $25 MiR*; I'd pick up a G0 Q6600 and 2x1GB PC8500 GEiL or OCZ Reaper ($40 MiR at Mwave**) as well - any advice?

There's no guarantee of X38 being an SLI board. You're basing everything on assumption and rumor.

    X38 won´t be SLI.
The SLI support is the only reason to buy a nvidia chipset board instead p35-965-975, give it to intel would be a commercial suicide .
