The heatpipe transfers are the problem. Removing the NB means you have to find an alternative cooling solution for the rest of the components. Those being the SB & Digital PWM. Thats one helluva SB plate for a P35 board imo but then the 680i is another chipset that demands Water Cooling for the SB and is poorly cooled with Stock Blocks. PWM's get really HOT & DFI appear to have dropped a large lump of metal & External Hetpipe/Fin option to address this issue. As soon as you Water Cool the CPU, those mofsets are hitting 100+ Deg C for no downdraught when using a conventional Heatsink/Fan combo! Unfortunately, I cant cool the SB on my 680i as my 7950 GX2's inner card hangs right over the SB. There are blocks that will fit but I aint happy with the mounts & they arn't specifically designed for the Chipset. I'm considering this board to be rid of VDroops but the use of nVidia RAID concerns the crap out of me!Originally Posted by alpha0ne
