The heatpipe transfers are the problem. Removing the NB means you have to find an alternative cooling solution for the rest of the components. Those being the SB & Digital PWM. Thats one helluva SB plate for a P35 board imo but then the 680i is another chipset that demands Water Cooling for the SB and is poorly cooled with Stock Blocks. PWM's get really HOT & DFI appear to have dropped a large lump of metal & External Hetpipe/Fin option to address this issue. As soon as you Water Cool the CPU, those mofsets are hitting 100+ Deg C for no downdraught when using a conventional Heatsink/Fan combo! Unfortunately, I cant cool the SB on my 680i as my 7950 GX2's inner card hangs right over the SB. There are blocks that will fit but I aint happy with the mounts & they arn't specifically designed for the Chipset. I'm considering this board to be rid of VDroops but the use of nVidia RAID concerns the crap out of me!![]()
