You have the G.Skill HZ? If so I have that same memory and can run 2.1v DDR2-~900 at 4-4-4-12 1T with this board.

to answer your question I'd stay with lower memory speed (lower volts, less heat) with tighter timings. Assuming of course that this keeps your CPU at the same levels either way.

I downloaded the bios and used the FlashMenu to update within Windows.. I watched it and it does program the boot block but does it apply the switches? eg: /py /sn /cd /cp /cc /cks /R

tried speedfan, seems its not working on this mobo
speedfan shows me weird numbers system 10C CPU -73C etc

Read a post over at Overclockers forums someone said this board has a bad Vdroop caused by the fan headers Can anyone confirm this info?

core temp. Run 4 instances of prime 95 and also memtest to see if you are stable.

How is everyone updating the bios? I heard doing it from within windows was risky.

It could just be that you know, i never would have thought. I have 4 fans plugged in out of six and am getting .05v droop. It gets worse like .08 as I jack up the volts.

I don't think it is just him, but it is still an exception rather than the rule I think. My droop is like .03 - .04V using 3 headers. The droop mod is published in any case for those with issues. I know I will do this mod before I drop in my quad, just in case droop comes into play with higher loading.

Well I have my quad at 3.5 stable and at 1.35v after droop so it doesnt seem like too much of a concern.

Will carry on testing, but so far not impressed. Having real trouble trying to reach somewhere even close to previous overclocks. Not sure if it has something to do with memory dividers.

Seems it was a glitch of sorts.

Tried 415x9 and 400x9 all with previous voltage and ram setup, and it wouldn't boot.

Lowered it right down, and gradually worked back up and now 415x9 is running just fine.

Maybe it just needs a warm up.

Has anyone tested it yet? Any new options? I'm hoping they bring the strap options back
    I'm afraid not.

I'm using it now and it is exactly the same as far as I can tell to the b04 that was out earlier on. No extra options anywhere that I can find.

Actually I have a similar problem that GAR's experiencing, albeit with my Commando.

My Logitech Media keyboard locks periodically in DOS (Ghost 2003) and the BIOS. I also tried a Logitech Internet kb as well as MS Media Keyboard all with the same results, not to mention flashing back to various BIOS revisions (clearing CMOS, no oc), etc, etc. I'm still researching the issue but in the meantime I'm looking to upgrade to a P35 board.

I posted five questions in this thread (see post #969) but the last two remain unanswered. So I repeat them and add some more.

    1. To date, how many official BIOS updates have there been for the IP35 Pro?

    2. Are there any SATA/AHCI issues? I have four SATA drives and would like to run at least two of them in AHCI (or perhaps RAID 0). I don't want to re-install XP only to find out there's a problem with AHCI support.

    3. Are there any USB problems at all? (strange lockups, resource conflicts with X-FI or with on-board PCI LAN controllers)

    4. I have two PATA DVD burners, Pioneer & BenQ. My Commando has no prob with these two in cable select mode. Does the IP35 Pro have any issues with PATA optical drives in such a configuration?

I'm very seriously interested in the IP35 but MUST know of conflicts beforehand. I can't afford the down time. I've owned several Abit boards in the past but since that time I've avoided them because I saw QC take a nosedive and read reports of Abit mgmt embezzling money. Hopefully all that's now permanently in the past.

Hadn't noticed this before, so not sure if this is new with this latest bios.

At boot up text comes up saying something like

Bios M629B_11.B04 Not for sale (Evaluation only)

No biggy I'm sure, just thought I'd mention it.

    1. I believe there are only 2 official bioses, the original release and the one that came out yesterday.

    2. I have 2 raptors installed on the ich9r and have had no problems. i can let you know about ahci in a few days if you'd like as i have another sata drive coming.

    3. I don't have an x-fi so i can't help you with this one.

    4. i have an ide hard drive and a pata dvd burner and i use the cable select configuration for the hard drive and burner and i have not had any problems getting it to detect or setup properly. i'd assume the same with two dvd burners.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I've narrowed down my choice to either the IP35 Pro or P35-DQ6. Please let me know what your results are with AHCI. I do some I/O intensive work where it would make quite a difference.
