    No problem I will I am getting a G0 and have high hopes for 3.3+ghz Orthos Stable.

    Unfortunetly i cannot buy any of those brands, OCZ was the best i could find, other brands were Kingston, Kingmax, Geil.

    Well i guess it doesnt matter anyway now, because just few hours after writing previous post, and just a couple of minutes before i was about to order OCZ, my computer just turned off, later i managed to turn it on for 5 mins before PSU finally died. Much later i tested with new PSU thinking previous died, which was weird because of prevoltage protection extenstion cord and UPS. How suprised was when this new one almost blew up on me , throwing sparks out. I guess this board finally gave out and started killing PSUs by draining too much juice at once?? dunno for sure. So i am doing RMA to importer, and will probably get money back.

    I am not sayng this mobo is a bad one, if you get a good specimen u are a happy little frog, but if you dont, you loose a lot of time,energy and hair for nothin.

    Can you advise me a good board that can replace this mobo regarding CPU/mem and overclockability?

    What do you think about Asus Striker or Commando or some other brand such as DFI?

    just thought - is this both the Q6600 and E6X50 chips - or just the 1333 MHz E6X50 chips ?

    ie is the bios update only needed for 1333 fsb chips ?

    thanks, Mark.

    I wouldn't worry much about the ocz comment. I have no idea what his grudge is against ocz to be making that kind of a blanket statement about them.

    As with most companies, different ram models can use different ic's, so if he was going to say a particular ic was bad, then fine, but...

    That said, I had a pair of ocz 8800 that had d9gmh. Ran them at 1200 5-5-5 for a good while without issue.

    So i now have my eyes set on P5K-deluxe waiting for importer to release it, and hoping i will have better luck with that mobo. I ve been hearing good stuff about that mobo, fixed vdroop, more support for OC, better stability, better mem compatibility, etc...

    I have an issue with my early release P5B DLX WiFi AP:

    Specs are:

    Bios 1215
    E6850 or X6800 or E6700 CPU
    GPU - 8800GTX or 7950GX2 (both have same issue on this board)
    OCZ PC8000 or Reaper PC8500 RAM
    Hitahci Deskstar SATA2 7K250
    1kw PCP&C PSU or Xclio 850w PSU
    Sony x16 DVD writer
    Soundblast Music Sound Card

    The issue I have is that the PCI-E frequency on PCI-E x16 slot goes to 1x speed - The problem is intermittent but happens mostly on any boot or restart that is not a cold boot - the bad news is that cold booting does not resolve this issue all the time.

    I have already tried rasing the PCI-E frequency but the situation does not improve.

    Any ideas/solutions would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Mav

    LMAO its not a grudge as you say nor is it blanket statements as I dont go around just saying whatever I feel without a reason

    Its from first hand experience from myself and a few other friends of mine who have had issues with the same said combinations.

    Nice. I hope you can hit 3.3 ghz. How are you going to cool it?

    On newegg some dude said thats it a great brand and great memory, if you get a good piece... his post gives perhaps the best description of this brand...

    They tend to die within first use, or within 3 months, out of the blue, or they tend to be unsupported well by some mobo manufacturers, and that is not OCZ's fault... but if the reseller has good RMA policy , who cares... that's why i plan ,inspite of advice of some ppl in this tread, and after some corespondence with several ppl in computer buisness here, to buy it... since its simply da best brand i can get my hands on here.
    One day when I grow up and make some connections abroad i might be able to get me some of those Gskill and Crucial

    is it possible to get the board replaced through another source and not through the retailer? the retailer has rejected the board for not having the socket-cap installed. and now i have no warranty-sheet.

    I suppose if you wanted to bend things a little, you could buy the board from somewhere else, and swap your board in and return it. Kind of shady, but really in the end, it's not really any different if you debate it

    does anyone know if you use raid 0 setup on P5WDH deluxe and just connect to P5B deluxe and setup raid in bios, will the ICH8R downgrade and accept ICH7R raid configurations?

    if youre not running quadcore what is the best bios to use for P5B deluxe?

    Thanks for reading.Cheers

    I am looking to track down and correct an issue with my overclock that I think relates directly to the SATA controller.

    Are there any settings beyond the obvious one (SB Vcore) that I should be tweaking?

    (my problem is that my OC that was stable for a year or so is now VERY crashy after I put a new 500gb HDD in the mix)

    Is that an additional HDD (rather than a replacement)?

    It's a new HDD. Actually, it's 2 new HDD's, I picked up 2 500gb maxtor drives, to complement my existing 320gb seagate SATA drive (winXP boot).

    Here's the details, running at 3.2ghz:

    * Processor: E6400
    * Bios Revision: 1101
    * Memory: 2gb Ballistix PC6400
    * Configured Voltages:
    memory voltage: 2.30
    cpu vcore: 1.4375
    FSB term: 1.400
    NB 1.45
    SB 1.60
    ich: auto
    * Configured FSB: 402
    * Configured Ratio: 1:1
    * Configured Memory Timings: SPD at the moment.

    Also, since I went to work this morning, at least 1 drive has passed a complete Seatools diagnostic run. Gonna put the other one through it asap, but it takes ~2hrs

    I would set up the 2 new drives as a RAID 0 for my OS

    2x Intel X25-M G2, 80GB SSD, ICH10R RAID 0 / Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

    When having settings PCIE:100, nb/sb/fsb/ich: auto ..this is when i can get 16x but when i change nb auto to 1.45 it will go to 8x or 1x.

    The above settings keeps giving me 8x no matter what pcie freq. I cant keep my nb/sb to auto because i need to raise it to keep 475. Does anyone know how i can keep a 475 fsb and keep 16x as well while having nb/sb/ich/fsb settings done manually? Has bios upgrade helped anyone? Please help thanks.

    That is outrageous!!

    contact ASUS directly and then show their responce letter to your retailer, if they persist on denying you RMA, make sure ASUS is made aware of this retailer. Try to find out who importer is, that is who imported from ASUS directly and then try to RMA there. Final step is to RMA directly to ASUS to some of their representative offices worldwide.

    Offcourse u can do legal steps too, but since i am not familiar with law codes regarding this issue in your country i cant advise you on that matter.

    **U can do switch-routine with a new , same type mobo, at same retailer or other,but be carefull, most of firms do serial number verification when item is RMA, and it can get ugly for you if you are cought, not to talk about possible criminal penalties...

    **
    I checked the price of P5K deluxe/wifi ap ... its same as of P5B-deluxe/wifiap when i bought it so if i get money back I'll be able to buy that mobo for no extra cost.. life is full of suprises

    Can I ask a little question, slightly off topic? I have P5B Dlx, if I upgrade to P35 Chipset, maybe a P5K Dlx, can you re-install Vista over original install or do you need to do a fresh install? I really hate the idea of setting up my PC again!!

    Just a small update. I left the PC alone, with the 1 drive that tested fine in it. After it had been left on for about 12 hours, at 6am, it crashed. BSOD. Nothing in the event viewer. The computer was IDLE at the time (screen had been on power save/off for over 3 hours) then poof BSOD (glad I was still awake to see it)

    This is so frustrating, I played like 2 hours of videogames that evening as well, without any problem. Temperatures all look fine.

    That is an interesting question, I have 1 too, since i have RAID 0, will i have to resetup RAID and reinstall system (and will I be able to access data on RAID0 before i do anything). Transition from P5bdlx to P5Kdlx ?

    Chunkz: During the early days of overclocking my E6400 on a P5B Deluxe I used to have random crashes at idle or when lightly loaded as well. What worked for me was setting the ICH voltage to the highest setting which is 1.215 volts. I also set the northbridge voltage up to 1.55 volts. Now it's been running for months at 450 x 8 without any issues and can run at 500 x 7 as well. It's always a good idea to lock memory timings and voltages in the bios so you don't end up with any surprises when overclocking.
