    Icon check my sig, I use an Apogee GT block. The leftmost corner rubs against the VRM 'sink fins, but it still fits. It also works fine with the CrazyCool backplate left on.

    If you meant watercooling the NB... the DQ6 NB cooler is still downright cool to the touch in most places, even the VRM fins are cool due to the case fans right next to them (P180). I see zero reason to use a WC block on the NB! All "heatpipes" have a liquid in them, they would not function without it.

    I guess not, mine is on the top left. I would not think it would matter the inlet is in the center so....

    For DQ6 users: the beta F5L BIOS on Gigabyte's website has fixed the non-working "Memory Performance Enhance" feature. I've only just started testing, but these are some quick checks with 10 min stable Orthos runs using the 1:1 divider.

    266FSB Stock
    Standard= MCH Strap of 11
    Extreme= MCH Strap of 3

    333FSB
    Standard= MCH Strap of 11
    Extreme= MCH Strap of 7

    400FSB Overclock:
    Standard= MCH Strap of 11
    Turbo= MCH Strap of 6
    Extreme= MCH Strap of 6

    501FSB Overclock
    Turbo= MCH Strap of 9
    Extreme= MCH Strap of 9

    Standard seems to use default values in all cases. So far Turbo/Extreme settings have not once caused an error in Orthos. I've just hit the 30 min stable mark at 501FSB "Extreme". Time to tighten the MCH strap manually and see how low it can go again...

    I cannot currently test higher FSB's due to my 8500 Ballistix down for RMA.
    did they take out the trd setting or do you have it set on auto?
    ive been using that to set "preformace level" on ds3r

    TRD is a RAM sub-timing. Before flashing to F5L I tested the F4 BIOS and changing the TRD setting did nothing, except change the TRD RAM timing. I have left mine on AUTO.

    I did some more Option 1 vs Option 2 testing. For all 8500 or higher speed Micron D9 users, it still seems that "Option 2" will give more stable results. For the first time I completed 8 hours of Orthos using "Option 1", but the system still BSOD'd when I opened WinAMP, so obviously that wasn't stable. Option 2 does seem to start making a difference for RAM speeds over 1GHz.

    I am building new system soon with q6600 plan on overclocking to atleast 3.0 to 3.4

    Which mother board is better ?

    GIGABYTE - P35-DS3R or P35-DS3P? some people told me to go with DSEP because DS3R has memory issue?

    f4g beta bios for p35c ds3r owners is a must. this bios rocks. finally I am able to run my memories at 1200 mhz 5-5-5-18 with only +0.3 voltage. performance enhance option really works with this bios. when ı set it to extreme, the performance level is 8. and my system doesn't freeze anymore while shutting down.all my problem are gone finally....

    Well that's pretty odd regarding the TRD setting working on y'alls boards... strangely I'm now longer getting issues with my thought-to-be-defective Crucial RAM either, so I am still in the process of testing THAT now... I hate tests.

    I will play around with the TRD setting again, maybe it was the specific overclock settings I was using at the time or something. (I never used any beta BIOS's before F5L however). The memory performance enhance seems to do a good enough job adjusting the strap on it's own though.

    Just installed this one.Thermaltake Extreme Spirt II.Appears to be no onboard sensor to read temp(NB) .

    I have made a SP1 just for you K404. I ran it just seconds ago on my Vista machine. Please note that this is my setup for game/work/surf so EVERYTHING is running in the background, and that is a lot
    I think Vista adds about a second or so to SP1 compared to XP SP2

    any liquid in the heat pipes?
    also, anyone watercooling these yet? how is the clearance?
    I'm using a homemade block for the CPU and it is no problem what so ever.
    I even have the CrazyCool still on...

    I had the EXACT same thoughts before buying this MB. Now that I have used it for a few weeks or so I am more then pleased with the heatpipe solution.
    It is WAY more then you need. And now I'm pretty happy about it not dumping more heat into my water then needed. Run with the HP, you won't be sorry!

    Same here for 1M. This was before memset beta with PL setting though. Ill try to rerun it.

    32M is a bit faster for me (with PL now) on P35C however not 100% sure the exact same tweaks were used and me time on Commando is slooooow to start with

    Beautiful. Is the bug for setting memory around 1150 mhz gone too? I guess they went all the way from b to g lol thats like 6 bios revisions.

    Try putting all settings back to normal.Then run repair.Most likely going to have to reformat and re-install.Could be a hardware issue,but most likely a user error in bios set up .Most of us have been there .
