Hi, i was talkin with a few people a few posts back about this cooler. I was wondering if the people that have this cooler installed on there BX2 would mind posting a picture of it? I just wanna see what it looks like mounted to the BX2 before i get one, thx so much!

thx for the pics. few things i wanna ask you. the mushkin ram you have, its the same kind i plan on getting. how well does it work? i see you have it in the black slots rather then the blue slots any reason for this? and the corsair power supply, i had planned on gettin one of those too, how do you like it? one final thing, how come your rear case fan is mouted on the outside of the case?

what do I have to disable so the CPU doesn't change multi under load/idle? I have disabled both C1E and EIST, and it still does it...

It's a bug. You can install a .ini file, somewhere to be found in this thread. It'll disable EIST @ windows boot.

But theres no reason to do so. C1E is a good feature.

Quick Question: I am building another new PC which will be primarily used for gaming (for my son) as well as internet/school, etc.

I love the stability of my own D975XBX2. Stability is important to me and while I will probably overclock my system (and his) at some point, it's not a huge issue at the moment.

I am curious if I should buy another XBX2 for the new machine or if there are any newer boards/chipsets out there that would be a better alternative or offer better future processor support/upgrades?

Any suggestions?

The mushkin Ram works great I have my system overclocked to 334FSB
and the 2/3 Divider running at 3GHZ stable four months now. The reason I am using the black slots is to many reports of ram failing on the number 3 slot.
The Corsair power supply is great I did a lot of research before buying.
The reason I mounted the rear case fan outside the case is because it was to close to the Ultra-X and I reversed it to blow in to feed the Ultra-x.

Based on what I found, I would conclude the following.
There are only 2 hardware revisions of the board:
501-505 are all the same original hardware rev, just different BIOS revs.
506-507 is the newer hardware rev, again with different versions of BIOS between the two versions.

I searched the intel.pcnalert.com website and

(Other than what I highlighed in bold, I don't think the other changes are really that useful.)

1. Updating the BIOS to revision 2507.
2. Adding the option to use both Maxim parts and the existing Pericom
parts in PCIe x8/x8 switching circuit.
3. Adding an enhanced revision of the ADI voltage regulator controller.

Additional items for retail desktop boards:
a. China RoHS documentation enhancements.
b. Updated printed product guide.
c. Updated the driver CD.

Two days ago I tried my XBX2 (flashed with 2770 bios ) with E6750, but it didn't run - after pushing the Power button, the power led on the case lit but nothing ran - CPU fan, video card fan, case fan and etc.
I think that Intel will not include support for the new 1333MHz FSB CPU's in future BIOS releases for BadAxe2.

Intel's webpages have the Matrix storage drivers for both 32/64 bit Vistas and I havent had any problems running the latest 975X Vista drivers for Matrix storage even tho they aren't directly targetted to XBX2.

But to be safe DL the Vista 32bit ones.

Well everybody, I found the fix for my extremely slow POST times --and it was exposed by another problem.

I have had serious issues burning CD's this past week with my two Pioneer DVR-212D SATA writers. Burn ten CD's, get eight coasters, and two usable disks. It didn't matter which of the two drives I used. Under Nero 6.6.1.15a, at a random point during the burn, the buffer would nearly instantly drop to zero, and the burn would fail. This was not a problem with the same drives under my previous nForce4 board (MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum) on the native nForce4 SATA controller.

I removed my Pioneer drives, and replaced them with a LiteON 167T DVD-ROM and an NEC 3500A DVD burner I used to have in this system --both IDE drives, and enabled the IDE controller. The extreme delay in POST disappeared immediately, as have the problems in writing CD's and DVD's.

I believe that Intel has a problem in its AHCI setup, be it a BIOS bug, or a hardware implementation issue, that causes problems with SATA optical drives. I have a sneaking suspicion that turning SATA from AHCI back over to IDE mode might fix the problem --but of course, at the expense of turning off features like Native Command Queuing for any hard disks using the controller. The AHCI drivers for Windows may or may not be part of the burning issue as well --I have no way to tell. I think it is likely that the nForce 650i and 680i chipset boards do not have these problems, considering that I had no problems with my far earlier nForce4 (Socket 939) board. I have also heard reports of similar problems from users who have Intel i965 chipset boards.

I hope Intel will take a look at this problem and attempt a fix via the BIOS, and drivers if necessary. Meanwhile, I'm back to using IDE for my optical drives.

I don't know what to tell you, but my board will post and boot halfway to Windows with an E6600 clocked to 1333FSB (basically E6850 speeds), which tells me that it should at least come up. That's with all four DIMM sockets filled, no less. I'm using the 2770 BIOS.

The first few times, I got to the OS' blue screen just before the login prompt; now I just get a BSOD/reboot 3/4 of the way through boot. I haven't tried really hard to make it run at that speed though, so I can't say it won't do it. I can run 315FSB (x 4 = effective 1260FSB) all day long at stock voltages.

Perhaps it's your revision of the board. Or, maybe the current BIOS doesn't support the new CPU microcode of the e6x50's and they just need to update it. Time will tell, but I can't believe Intel wouldn't ensure support for these new CPU's when the board is advertised by top vendors as having 1333FSB support.
