3.6Ghz 24/7 stable would be awesome for air...I'd actually be extremely happy with 3.4-3.5Ghz!

You guys may kill me for being so cheap, but what do you imagine would be doable on a G0 Q6600 with stock HSF? 3.0, maybe 3.2 at decent temps for 24/7 use?

I just hope this isn't gonna be a repeat of last year & Core2 Duo's. All the early engineering samples were hitting 4Ghz+ on air for benching & 3.8ghz Prime/Orthos stable easily. Most retail chips struggled to hit 3.6Ghz Prime/Orthos stable when first released, and unitl the "B" batches 4Ghz on air was near impossible. All these Quad G0 results we're seeing are engineering samples. Any retail results turn up yet? Quad core though, not dual. My B3 Q6600 does 3.3Ghz Prime orthos stable @1.36v load. It's 3DMark 06, OCCT, & 32Mb Pi stable @ 3.6Ghz same voltage, but not Prime/Orthos. Any further increase in voltage & it jumps to over 70'C @ load due to air cooling. I will try water soon, but I'm sure I can get 3.6Ghz Prime orthos stable. I'll get a G0 stepping as soon as they're available. I just hope I won't be dissapointed like I was with my first two E6600's.

As impressive as these results are, I'm skipping these and waiting for Penryn... hopefully the P5K and its apparent support of the 45nm can overclock them decently.

I was going to do the same but with the up coming price drops I changed my mind . Just need to find a G0 now ...

I don't think it'll matter. Before G0, I believe the Xeon had a lower TDP, but come G0, I believe they are the same (95W) which is lower than any of them besides the current and future clovertowns.
    That is all.

    Peace and love.

Geez, I don't know if that can even be done, but I'm not a expert like all these gurus here. Maybe one of them can give you the proper answer.

These babies need good cooling and air flow from what I have seen. I wouldn't chance a stock HSF with this chip.

I odered the Q6600 with the G0 stepping myself but I won't get it until August.

Is the Q6700, being a non-extreme version, going to have a locked multiplier?
