Ineresting so I wonder if its actually doing anything or if its just there for show. I thought that 1T was usually good for a very good amount of speed in comparison.

    Hmm,
    Well in the BIOS M630a_11.bin
Their are acouple of hidden sections,
    one including.
    Dram spec = 667, 800, 1066 -
However on the new BEta, that option has been removed.!

    BIOS flash

When I use USB flash procedure it tells me the BIOS is not an award bios and goes back to the dos prompt.

I have formatted the USB drive per previous instructions. Any ideas? Is this an AMI bios and not an award? If I use the flash menu in windows it flashes fine but I do not like flashing in windows.

Hey Ace-a-Rue, when you flashed to the newest BIOS from the other day, did you use all the same parameters/switches that you put in your post a few pages back? Just curious.

i like the TR Ultra 120 Xtreme heatsink...but...it does have a minor deficiency...you have to add some spacing material between the clamp housing and the top of the mating surface for the cpu.

this is done to give a firmer seating and mating between the two cpu and heatsink surfaces.

if you don't do that, it means about 2-3c warmer temps.

FWIW...The Scythe Ninja B is not too bad either. I like it because it is shorter than the TR Ultra120 Extreme and fits in any case without a fan attached to the inside of the side window/panel. I tried to fit the TR 120 into a Lian Li PC-60 case and there is no way, even without the fan on the window. Anandtech says there is an 80-90MHz difference in OC but I am not so sure about that as I use both on similar setups and the Ninja performs as well as the TR-120 Ultra Extreme in my systems. Also, you may have to remove some material from the HS bracket as it may interfere with the mosfets. But that is not such a biggie.

I was all hyped to see the new bios but it looks like 1:1 and 5:6 uses the 1333strap .... Why is Abit going backwards ....

Anybody know where I can buy a bios chip to test the new bios?.... I really dont want to risk losing the bios I have now.....

read this post...it shows the Asus P5K is doing about the same thing.

it is why i get higher overclocks on this board versus the QuadGT..it makes me feel better...on the QuadGT i was stuck in the 1066 strap and so i could not go above 390 FSB (410 FSB max with heavy, heavy voltage)...so, is it more important for you to get higher FSB?!..if the answer is yes, then the only way to go there is via the 1333 strap.

Hey guys excuse me but Im new at this. At the bios I cannot find a way to lower my vcore. The lowest I see is 1.3250 v and everyone here on their cpuID shows ~1.2. Any advice or answer is appreciated.
    Thanks

the base vcore is the vcore that your cpu requires...the voltage reported by Cpuz is incorrect.

Thats because cpuid doesnt read the voltage correct above about 1.45vcore and rarely reads it correct at all for most mobos. Its not a big deal most poeple here arent running less then 1.325 vcore.

I maxed out my cpu fsb I think so I want 1066 strap the whole way...... I understand your point of view but it would have been nice for Abit to give us the option to pick which is best for us..... I dont have a problem with high fsb and 1066strap cos I did 550fsb on the dfi and 560fsb here on the abit.... my problem is my bios gets screwy at times and when it happens sometimes it takes forever to get it running normal again..... Ill take a picture to show what I mean when it happens again, its ok when Im not benching but when I am its a piss off..... like it sucks when your temp is wayyy below 0c and Uguru freezes when I set it at 400fsb lol.....

K got it, thanks. And guys Im getting temps at ~50 degrees C running non OC with the stock heatsink and stock thermal paste. Im using the abit along with e4400. Im using Speedfan and Rightmark cpu clock to monitor my temps. Anyone with opinions on why is this or is the stock therm grease just crap.

You think your temps are bad. I get 50C idle with my L629B E6700 at 3.33 GHz 1.29 vcore. 70C load. Thats with a Tuniq Tower 120 too.

B's run hot but mine don't run that hot. I have 2 E6600s (L629B and L631B) and idle temps under air for the 629B at 1.44vcore is about 41C and the 631B at 1.44vcore is 34C. You may have something else going on with your 6700. My 629B is lapped, 631B unlapped.
