It's all down to quality control though with reports of heat.

I've heard people say the P5K is hot, and others who have said it isn't but it could depend on the end users air ventilation.

Someone on this forum IIRC hasn't long made a post about their Gigabyte board being hot to them.

As for the Gigabyte boards needed less vcore, I've never read about that. The P5K is definitely the better memory tweaker out of the Gigabyte and P5K - just read eva2000's experience with it.
