My MCW60 came with 8 ram sinks, but I need more to cover all spots on my 8800GTX i think.
so what are poeple doing with theirs?
there is another 8 pack on the swiftech website for 20 bucks, a little high i think, any alternatives?

I have a GTS640 and have MC14s from Swiftech, they come in packs of 8, I used little under three packs per card for the RAM/VREGS etc.
here is one of my cards:
Before you ask, yes that is naked G80 core as well :-P using MCW60 on it.
The "half" sinks are MC14s that I dremmeled.

thats awesome how did you get the IHS off???...I am going to voltmod mine and would be interested in removing the IHS if its not too difficult, as warranty is already out the window.
And I am assuming you bents those pins on the MC14's as well, and cut some of them in half?
Any advantage to bending the pins like that?
So if I buy two packs will that be enough for my 8800GTX, as I already have one, or should I buy 3 packs?
Do you just use the thermal tape on the back of the mc14's, or did you cnhane it to something else?

just two more should serve your purpose, if you use half sinks like I did, as the full size were to big because of how close the components on the card are.
I used three razor blades, slow breathing and patience, with steady pressure.
I am NOT say to do this, but if you want to, that is up to you.
I posted in another thread all my steps and pics to show what I was talking about. Just to a search for naked 8800 gts.
I run my ram chips naked - just 1 swifty hs on the i/o chip.

a dtek unisink is cheaper than buying mc14 sinks, is a dtek unisink any good? or should i stay away.
Also there are MC21 that are made for the vregs on 8800 cards, those would be better for the 4 vregs would they not?
Do you use the stock sticky backs for mounting them...or upgrade to other thermal adhasive?

Phelan I did a search for naked 8800 gts and can't find jack. Is it in the Stacker Slacker thread??

great ingenuity!
but have to say... it looks like someone sat on it!
still love it tho!
To fit my 3/4" OD tubing onto my Swiftech MCW60, I had to use 3rd party barbs (D-Tek). With the stock swiftech ones, the tubing would not clear the MC14 ramsinks right infront of the block.
Bending the MC14s is an excellent idea. I wish I had thought of it.
hey DNottis, what are those blue sinks on your card?
For the record I am not sick, nor am I a gamer, nor am I a sick gamer. That name just sounds really cool to me but dont put me under that stereotype at all.
nevermind... addicted to COD4 and Free Online Games baby!
Looks like the alu vram heatsinks from zalman.

Phelan's heatsinks remind me of different Haircuts; Here's my visual approximation:

Really there is no secret to bending and shaping the SINK pins.
I used a Molex tool, its just a little wider then the pins and you can insert the pin @ varying depth to bend how you want. I used a pair of pliers to hold the bard in one hand (tiny hard bastages) and just bent here and there till I got a look I wanted or liked.
Dude that was awsome![]()

Dinos found my IHS removal thread, with pics to help.
phelan never made note on the temps in that thread which is probably an indication they weren't that much better heheh
I was looking at all my new shiny WC stuff, and came upon the Ramsinks...

No, I'm waiting until I have my video card in my hands, So I can tell whether I will need to bend any or not.
PS: They are Swiftech![]()
