Does the warning (from p965 GA boards) :
"do not use JMicron drivers, but instead use the Gigabyte drivers"
still hold for the P35? I remember people had many problems when they did a windows update.
I was under the impression the Gigabyte drivers were the same as the JMicron drivers.
Anyways, so far this board has been good for me, specially when compared against my P965-DS3 rev2.0...
At least this board likes my micron chipped 6400C4 Corsair, been able to OC this E6600 of mine about 20-30 MHz higher than b4... But best of all is I have been able to OC my ram where my old board couldn't...
think I might have some dud E6600 here as I have not been able to get 1 of em above 400fsb...
anyways, here's a pic of what my max oc has been so far, still tweaking...
Cheers,
Minh

Hey guys, does Big typhoon fit in the p35 dq6???
I am torn between the GA-P35-DQ6 and GA-P35-DS3P and i was wondering if someone could answer a couple of questions for me to help me decide.
I do not OC and never will but i currently use aftermarket cooling (Thermaright XP90c) because the room my PC is in gets warm sometimes (80F +) My case has good airflow (Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570)
If I buy the DQ6, I can't use my XP90c because the crazy cool heatsink on the backside of the mobo prevents me from using the backplate for the XP90c. Yes i know you can remove the backplate, but I am someone who believes that things were put on mobos for a reason and should be left there. This would force me to use the stock HSF that came with my e6600 which I have not ever used. Is this cooling sufficient since I won't be OCing? I mean Intel included it so it should be fine right?
If I buy the DS3P, I can use the XP90c but the extra cooling on the MOSFETs isn't there and I was wondering how much of an effect it would have on the lifespan of the board?
I was looking at the other aspects between the two and other than the exotic cooling, you get 2 more eSATA ports and the "QuadBios" vs "DualBIOS +"
I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks

mmmm, id say if you don't care about overclocking it, go look at other boards, abit-ip35 series are very stable, anus p5k series... they all have similar packages without the crazycool...
or, go get a Scythe Ninja, no backplate.

New beta bios for the P35-DS4, F5f:
http://www.jzelectronic.de/jz2/index.php
Scythe Ninja Rev. B fits perfect on the mobo...but with the fan added it overhangs the first memory slot....no biggie as you can still remove the memory with a bit of fiddling about.

Signature? are you kidding? with new stuff coming out every day, why bother ?
Is the Heatpipe setup for the mobo on the DQ6 just meant for OCing purposes? Or will it extend the life of the mobo as compared to the lack of heatpipes and cooling on the DS3P?
Not a Dell.
No, it's meant for marketing purposes. The P35 chipset actually runs cooler than the P965, so get yourself a DS3P and be done with it. There's no reason to shell out extra cash just for useless heatpipes.

personnaly i dont care if my mobo burns before warranty is up lol
i never kept one past 2 years
p5b=4 months
p5wdx=2 weeks
only board i had for 2 years was the p4c800-e-deluxe and i burned 2 of em lol but asus kept on sendin me new ones
soon i be with a x38 with just plain ol ddr2 unless we see todays prices lol then i get ddr3 by then maybe we see ddr4 lol
my moto is if you wanna play you better have a spare or a pc store near by lol

not just f4, f3 also
"Rank Write to Read" and "Write to Precharge" both adds 7 to what you put in
"tRD" causes oc settings to be disabled unless its set to auto
AHCI rom is ich8
"417 strap" cuts bandwith by almost 2gband causes tracerx leds to either malfuntion or they are just showing how broken this "strap" is
headers for 8 usb ports on the mobo but usb bracket is "optional" (1$ part) (ds3/4)
boards been availible for 2 months and giga had it for much longer yet public is forced to beta test thier mobo
no cpu pll vcc
if they cant fix the "strap" and memory mess soon im gonna give this board away to some poor kid that doesnt have a pc

I found that even with longer bolts for the xp-120, the crazycool backplate + socket backplate was too deep to fit between the mobo and the case/motherboard standoffs + the backplate doesnt line up.
The manual describes how to remove it and included are 2 nuts which the northbridge cooler needs when u remove the crazycool backplate. So if its detailed in the manual Id say it wouldnt void the warrenty to remove.
That QST driver goes "this computer does not meet the minimum requirements.." and fails in xp. :/
finally tested vdimm voltage had to turn board on for it to register a voltage
it turns out that the p35c is overvolting
and the readings in windows are 100% correct not even off by 0.01 lol
so 2.2v in bois =2.37v lol

Where are the DS3R BIOSes?
Is there any threads going on about OCing these P35-DS* series boards??
like what voltages are safe for Gmch etc??
Kinda struggling to get past 390fsb with my E6600... Might be my CPU but any tips would be appreciated...
Maybe start a thread about "Official P35-DS* Series OC"??
Cheers,
Minh

I can't attach the Thermalright HR-05 on any of those Gigabyte P35 boards, how about u guys ?![]()
Headshot ! those who can, do, those who can't, complain.
How do I keep it from resetting back to normal speed after I overclock my P35C-DS3R. It does this everytime I reboot? I set the voltage up correctly but still does it. These Gigabyte are P.O.S at holding a overclock.

I get no beeps after booting up the computer. Is there a setting I have to make or do I have to add a case speaker? Is there no speaker built onto the motherboard?
Did anyone get the Gigabyte (jmicron) AHCI drivers v1.17.13.01 to work without crashing windows after pressing F6, then "S" and return, and before getting to the setup page on winxp sp2? i downloaded the gigabye AHCI drivers and Intel AHCI drivers from the gigabyte site. The Intel AHCI drivers load fine during the windows installation.
No improvement for me here- RAM clocking still sucks. I`m wondering if my RAM SPD is conflicting with the BIOS/NB strappings and thats putting a ceiling on my clocks? I could clock my RAM way higher on the P5B.
My RAM clocking seems to cap at 5% over DDR2-1066 spec. Co-incidence? or have Giga capped it so stop current tech shining too bright and making the DDR3 looking even poorer value for money than it already is?
has anyone found any differences between using the red Vs yellow slots?
