There should be a five series BIOS out in the next couple of weeks, officially. They have added to additional settings to Transaction Booster, when enabled it will have 0~3, in essence, the 3 setting will be equal to or a little better than Memset performance level 4. Additional memory ratios will also be opened up and the chipset latencies will be improved when using the 200/266 straps. I have been testing 0603 for the P5K3 BIOS with the changes listed above and then some.

I successfully flashed to 0403 from 0311. On the initial boot I had a check sum F1 message but all the boots since have been successful after I set my defaults.

The one change that I've noticed is on the JumperFree Configurations page. I believe it's the much awaited option:

FSB Strap to North Bridge [Auto], 200MHz, 266MHz, 333Mhz

    Attachment 60769

At this point I'm not sure what this change means.

This is all on water...what kind of temps/clocks are the limit for P5K+6600 chips on air?

    WATER:
    E6600 - 4.0+
    Q6600 - 3.6+

    AIR:
    E6600 - 3.5+
    Q6600 - ?

I'm down with a knock out!

My P5KD shutdown and now when I boot I get a message that I have a 'CPU fan error!'. It looks like my pump quit working.

OK proly a dumb question but I have to ask before I go out of my mind.

I have been running stable at 9x410. Flashed to the new BIOS no problem.

Changed all my settings back, again no problem BIOS showing 3.7ghz.

I boot to XP and the multiplier changes to 6x410!!

I am sure I missed a setting somewhere, can anyone please help?

    thanks

edit: tried 8x466 and it still reverts to 6 multiplier in Windows, I didn't install anything in XP so what the hell is changing my Multiplier?

Then I am going to wait in flashing this BIOS. No need to invoke the small risks involved if I will be updating again in a few weeks.

It's that C1 thing in bios under cpu. Disable all that cpu stuff in there and it will go back to normal. I had the same trouble initially.

I used to get that for not having a fan plugged into the CPU fan header.

Had to go to hardware monitor in your bios and ignore fan speed.

Funny after loading 0403 I came up in vga mode and vista loaded pci bridge again and then I had to re-install my forceware drivers for some odd reason. After that everything was fine.

    Yup same here.

Also with the new BIOS my temps are WAY down at the same speed and VCORE, just guessing 10-15c lower readings in speedfan and Coretemp

    Anyone else seeing this?

unfortunately vcore set 1.65v in bios still reads 1.58-1.59v in hardware monitor and pcprobe 2. I didn't see any temp difference.

It must be changing something on the board that vista thinks is new hardware code I guess.

At least they didn't force a uninstall like they do when you upgrade them.

After a bit of a wait i finally got my OCZ alpha titanium memory back from rma and they seem to like this board. Boot at 499fsb using setfsb up to 520fsb, 2.25vdimm set in bios.

So there is a BIOS setting to ignore cpu fan? I bought a silverstone 121B for my typhoon that I'll be using on my P5k Deluxe and it won't plug into the standard cpu connector so instead I plan on using a molex connector.

It will still have a one wire that goes to the CPU Fan connector for monitoring reason (if I'm mot mistaken).

ok because I tried the fan out of my old lan party and the fan would not be powered up if I just plugged it into the cpu fan pins. So are you saying that I would have to plug the fan into the cpu fan pins and a molex connector for control purposes?
