But it does mean that not all old mobos can be expected to just work. And then there were some boards that never got the BIOS update either. Plenty of options.

Not quite. He's merely reporting (while not providing citation) Charlie/Groo's back-down from his 2.9GHz story, posted in the forums on aces.

Basically, Charlie is now claiming that *power* usage would allow for 2.8GHz eventually within a reasonable TDP, but there are other issues besides power hampering frequency.

Even the Fuad story says 2.4GHz at launch, and they hope to make it faster later.

And Fuad says that launch is now Q4.

But given Fraud's track-record, I wouldn't believe either story based on him alone.

Seems we made our greatest error when we named it at the start
for though we called it "Human Nature" - it was cancer of the heart

You do realize that DailyTech is as much Anandtech as Myspace is to Murdoch So what's your problem with either, anyway?

Probably the most accurate view of the K10 state.

Well at least refreshing, after one week where it went from 2.4ghz only in Q2 to 2.6ghz in Q1 to 2.4Ghz at launch but only because AMD don't need more as the chip clock above 3ghz.

    Priceless.

He went completely offroad when he took the 40% number and went onwards on that. K8 already beat Core 2 with about 20% in the same specrate benches.

if you think that THAT is the point of the article, well so be it....

He just took that number for speculation, if you would have read the interesting part, you wouldnt post such crap.....

And btw, the 40% didnt came for specrate

He speculated out from that number. And that number is both estimated and in a type AMD already own intel in.

But the real problem is those numbers dont hold water in terms of average/realworld applications. If they did you would be playing games on a K8 and not a Core 2 for maximum performance.

And if not specrate, then what? Another heavy (synthetic) memory limited benchmark?

First he correlates Intel releasing Conroe on B2 and therefore hoping that AMD will, then guesstimates performance of K10, then tries to explain AMD's no show at Computex, so..was he trying to make a point or something Of course, I can see why you link him, him being an AMD propagandist, with nuts sprinkled on top and all

Read again man, if you even read 1/3 of the way you would know that he thought 40% was an overestimate (2.8 Ghz to compete with Penryn rather than 2.5).

40% is number given by AMD....
he just tries to uncover the real date of arrival for barcelona and tries to explain what can cause the delay...

Savantu referring to him as "sharikou's brother" is calling the kettle black.

It isn't IQ that's the problem. They're just not reading the title, "AMD Barcelona thread". Not thread crap with Intel fanboy propaganda. There's a similar problem with any 2900XT threads, where nVidia fanboys ignore the title to swoop in with more propaganda.
