lol, glad to see so many people are still concerning DFI.
I think this will encourage DFI a lot
I've talked to them about their RMA issue.
They've noticed that RMA rate is too high, and they've already Educated their Factory

DFI will have brand new designed HeatPipe this time.
not like asus/giga/abit which are only for good looking but bad performance.
Jarry@DFI showed me their SUPER idea at computex, I'm really excited and shocked

anyway, let's be more patient, good things always worth waiting

it's a shame that i have to wait for their heatpipe solution considering i will be removing it as soon as i get it in favor of watercooling. but i guess that is the price you pay for getting a case with an inverted mobo mount.

I'm glad to see your excited and that maybe we will finally have a good c2d/quad mb from DFI. The real trick is getting a top mb in the regular clockers hands. I am on a Dark now so I am not just a guy who has read about DFI. It is a nice mb but not a top 965 board. I hope the P35 board is a top board as there are already many nice and good boards out there.

Also, the guy who said what will it do on air is right in that unlike AMD 939, the number of clockers on phase on c2d is small. Lets see some good air numbers on this board.

I think we need to give DFI some time, their R&D and FAE team are working hard on every LP mobo these days.
Intel didn't support DFI much, but DFI can still make a good mobo, that's not a easy job.

yes, DFI's mobo/bios has too much options so that maybe hard to normal overclker.
DFI themself already noticed that, think they will give overclk guide together with there mobo.
Just like driving a ferrari is quite difficult to a newbie, that why ferrari gives their customer free lessons to master their fancy cars

one thing I believe it that, only competetion can lead to tech. innovation and evolution.
Asus/Gigabyte/Abit/MSI/DFI/Foxconn, more and more interesting now, haha

I rma'd my dark for the noisy coils, but I still like the DFI bios and I think they will get something good going again. They still have a chance to be innovative with p35 and x38. At least it's on time with this release.

I think they should include sinks or heat pipes with the board, but leave them off. That pic of the naked board looks like fun to work with. Then when the user gets the board he can decide to attach them on or use his own. I think the enthusiast market would eat that up.

For the P35 fsb , let see some aircooling shot as the sub zero are not realistic for 24/7 use.
Who really cares as long as the board is fast..... HAving only 9x multi, I cant run 2:3 divider for obvious reasons but this board at 1:1 is almost as fast as other boards running 2:3 divider..... If this new board acts just like the 965-s, Ill be very happy.... If you guys want something quiet, easy to configure and headache free, go buy a Dell......

Ask DFI that question. I wonder how many rma they got in total because of squeal. That would tell you who really cares.

I'd like to see them to succeed and the fact is people want more than just speed. Not everyone is setting up in the garage on cardboard with janky watercooling in a bucket. Those ten guys probably don't care about the sound.

i bet dfi will do a good job this time around.

and guys...this is Xtreme Systems, not "WAHHH MY BOARD SQUEELS SO ILL RMA IT!" systems. i dont think dfi said "this motherboard will be quiet" in their warranty did they? they just said it has to work at stock.

i no longer use a laptop.

I'm glad to hear that DFI are doing something about this issue, but I'm afraid it's a little late, for some at least. The Norwegian reseller said they will not be stocking DFI motherboards any longer (at least not the 680i LT SLI), due to the high RMA rate

Do you have a DFI board that squeals? If so, your entitled to your opinion. If you do not, what makes you think you tell others about their boards. The new car I just bought doesn't say anything about being quiet in the warranty but if I hear a noise that I do not think I should hear and is not on other cars, I will go in for a warranty check.

Yes, this is XS. Have times changed where noise matters now? I think they have. How many guys use super loud fans anymore?

DFI boards are only the boards for me.. Its a real tweakers board.. and if you're really patient, you can educate yourself of how is trc trf and so on and so forth means.. DFI let you learn and let your brains work.. hehehe

hope it will not be so late.. in our country.. DFI boards are selling like crazy.. for us enthusiast.. so if your a weak of heart.. be ready to learn..

about the noise.. yup everybody prefers the noise level.. but for me.. nah.. hehehe

    go go go DFI..

Oskar Wu.. thank you for your works.. hope the heatpipes is not intertwined.. cause I will leave the heatpipe cooling the mofsets.. only the NB and SB will be water cooling..

but for me.. I'll wait for the X38.. hehehe so much money expending on hardware.. my wife will question me if I buy another board for the next month.. hehehe

Is the squeal really that bad? It doesn't bother me that much, even with 1.7v+ on vcore and 2.5v on vdimm it isn't that bad. I guess for exeryday use I just tune it out, hell, the noise CRTs make is a lot more annoying than the board.

I agree completely with Luihead about this board, it's fast so I don't really care about anything else annoying. Find me another P965 board that runs 530+ fsb on 1066 strap like cake, even the Quad GT has trouble over 530. Not to mention throughout hours of benching I never have to reset the CMOS. Hell last night I forgot to switch from 2:3 to 1:1 when I went up to 500fsb, but the board booted right up and I could get into the BIOS and simply switch ratios. With my old DS3 I would've spent ten minutes getting everything back to normal.

The BIOS can be a little daunting at first, but that's the fun. I'll be first to admit that I don't know what every single sub timing does, but I sure have fun playing with them. Not to mention what other board let's you play with GTL or driving strength in the BIOS.

Please DFI, make another board like the dark. Get rid of the squealing, but don't water down the BIOS.

With only x16 bandwidth and x4 bandwidth on the PCI-E slots I'm gonna skip the P35 line entirely & wait for the P38. I have yet to replace my graphics cards so a non dual graphics board will greatly hinder gaming. Board looks interesting though. I just wish preview and review sample board's performance were able to be matched by the end user's retail purchased boards. DFI got popular during the AMD NForce days because we were all able to achieve the high FSB's we read about. This has not been the case with DFI's last 3 released boards. I believe that the core 2 duo platform has too many variables for it to be possible like before. I wonder if AMD's innergrated memory controller is what made all those high FSB's so easily attainable.

I'm glad to see they have a new board but what is wrong with pushing for better quality? It's not hurting anybody's feelings at DFI you know. I'm sure they want to put out top stuff and feedback from all angles is important. BTW you can have "xtreme" speed without a cruddy sounding setup. Snap into a slim jim and get Xtreme dude.

    Oh...my...god. On a P35 board with DDR2!
"To exist in this vast universe for a speck of time is the great gift of life. Our tiny sliver of time is our gift of life. It is our only life. The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. Each life is our own and no one else's. It is precious beyond all counting. It is the greatest value we have. Cherish it for what it truly is."

one thig that could be concerning it that by the time it comes out it will be obsolete .... like the 965, i mean what was even the point of releasing it when it was just before the p35 mobos and while all the other companies had them out for a long time, (even abit who was always late )
