what are your temps like with 1.6volts to the cpu?

idle 38-39c usually and load like 45c
but I also am doing some more mods to the case (120mm fan intake and another fan in the PSU so the exhaust HSF, yes I have two on there, doesn't blow onto a small hole.)
so I should be good.
EDIT: but man it was sooo nice on 1.45v, I idled at 32c :]

Hey
What is the complete stepping off your CPU and what is the exact cooling you are using
My CPU will do 2.6GHZ @ 1.27V 2.8GHZ @ 1.34V all prime stable on a crappy Asus Board; will test again with DFI in week or two
I got my chip to 3383Mhz with 1.55v and my Zalman 9500 (suicide shot only LOL). For some reason it won't boot with more voltage. Air temp was about 15C I guess...
I have a cvf file of that score, but CPUZ sometimes doesn't read the mobo details and some other crap needed to get a validation.
3.5 won't be easy for you (or me) I think, so good luck!
Mine is working fine, CPUZ #205038, Idling aroud 31-32C using the Opteron stock AMD heatpipe cooler. These new X2 5600+ chips are sweet.
Running 250Mhz x14, with the ram at 250Mhz (DDR500 er DDR2-1000) 5,5,5,15 using 1.525Vcore. THough the chip does run 3.0Ghz @ 1.30Vcore![]()

haha yeah that one confused me also

and here:
won a DFI SLI-DR Expert for $56 + shipping
can't wait till it comes in!
i hit 3.47 Ghz on water (link in sig). 3.5 is a crazy, crazy goal for aircooling. It is pretty much only going to happen if you have an extremely cool ambient temperature that allows you to crank the volts, but technically possible.
I remember people got some single core opties to 3.6 Ghz on air -- in the dead of winter with like -10C airUnfortunately now its summer. Unless you live in AUS?
Good luck with it

Yeah, but only if you use the canned air in tins labelled "Butane"![]()
These new 5600+ AM2 chips are doing fantastic. 1.525 to achieve 3.5Ghz using the stock Opteron heatpipe cooler (not even a bigass 3rd party cooler) is sweet.
250Mhz = DDR500 = DDR2-1000. The clock is 250Mhz, for DDR the data is double sampled (rising and falling edge) and for DDR2 it is quad sampled. So the data rate on the actual data burst out of the ram is 500Mhz for DDR and 1000Mhz for DDR2 but the stick is CLOCKED at 250Mhz.
So mine is running 250Mhz x14 on the cpu, no divider (running 1:1) 250Mhz on the DDR2 ram, 5.0, 5, 5, 15 timings.
So the newest chips are looking doable for 3.5Ghz on air, and for me this is all with 70-75F room temperature... I dont have the AC in the window yet.

Yeah I was just going to get an AM2 but I would rather squeeze everything I can out of this proc and maybe even place 1st on HWBot.

you want to see the results or do you mean burn in?
Squidmaster Dude I am lovin these results but I have a Q have you tryed popping the IHS off?

Yes, and you need all the help you can get to acieve your goal.

ram: 32 gb gskill 2400 @ 3000
psu: coarsair 1kw
hdd's: samsung 500gb ssd 1tb & 3tb hdd
I think that doing that is out of my league.
If I had more knowledge of removing the IHS then I might, just might do it, but I have never done it before and I don't want to ruin a great CPU.
I've seen load temps go down 15c from removing the IHS... it depends on how well it is making contact
