i hit 3.47 Ghz on water (link in sig). 3.5 is a crazy, crazy goal for aircooling. It is pretty much only going to happen if you have an extremely cool ambient temperature that allows you to crank the volts, but technically possible.

I remember people got some single core opties to 3.6 Ghz on air -- in the dead of winter with like -10C air Unfortunately now its summer. Unless you live in AUS?

    Good luck with it
    Intel Rig

    Custom Water of course

    haha thanks
but I did a pinmod to 1.6v and I ran idle of 37-38c at 3.05GHz
so im guessing idle would be 44ish at 3.5GHz....
    I hope I can.
I have 2 room fans (portable) that when I turn on it and put it up right close lower my temps like 2-4c which is nice.

    3800+ x2 939 Stable at 3.201GHz on air.

for 3.5 Ghz you'll need more than fans... we're talking AC blasting into the side of the case, or an exceptionally cold night. This would probably require around 1.65-1.675 Vcore.

    hmmm crap ok.

    what about canned air?
couldn't I just turn that upside down and use that to kinda keep the CPU cool? I will just have to buy like 9234 cans to boot into windows hahaha.
    also
would that still count as air? haha

Yeah, but only if you use the canned air in tins labelled "Butane"

    hmmm

These new 5600+ AM2 chips are doing fantastic. 1.525 to achieve 3.5Ghz using the stock Opteron heatpipe cooler (not even a bigass 3rd party cooler) is sweet.

250Mhz = DDR500 = DDR2-1000. The clock is 250Mhz, for DDR the data is double sampled (rising and falling edge) and for DDR2 it is quad sampled. So the data rate on the actual data burst out of the ram is 500Mhz for DDR and 1000Mhz for DDR2 but the stick is CLOCKED at 250Mhz.

So mine is running 250Mhz x14 on the cpu, no divider (running 1:1) 250Mhz on the DDR2 ram, 5.0, 5, 5, 15 timings.

So the newest chips are looking doable for 3.5Ghz on air, and for me this is all with 70-75F room temperature... I dont have the AC in the window yet.
