    Geil DDR3 1066 @ 1500 6-8-6-15 [Elpida Chip]

    came back from computex, too tied, just a brief testing.

    Geil DDR3-1066 512m*2
    max vdimm stable = 1.8v
    CL=9 no boot.
    tRAS<15 not stable.

    Ambient=27c, ramcooling = 8cm 2000rpm fan.

    cpu=E6850es G0, watercooling
    mobo=Asus P5K3-Dlx (0413)
    psu=Topower 1200w

    we can see that...with 1500 6-8-6-15, almost the same efficiency with ddr2-1200 4445

    Sorry Guys, I've made a mistake, it's Elpida module but not Qimonda, I was wrong.

    Nice results Victor!

    So DDR3 is not as bad as I thought

    Thank you for the information.

    Did you try max Mhz with cl8 yet? That would be interesting to see how high it can go. 1.8V is not that much more than stock vdimm and already limiting. Maybe thats because of early DDR3 ICs.

    tight timings = ?
    as I mentioned in this thread, tRAS<15 cause unstable, tRAS<14= cannot boot.
    tRFC=30 cause system crash.
    higher volt. do not help on Qimonda Chip but will cause unstable.

    It's not exactly a new company. Infineon split up, and the memorychip division got a new name.

    Wow, entry level DDR3 sticks do this great, I'm suprised and CL5, holy crapola.

    I might even have to wait until DDR3 prices goes down now when I think of how great entry DDR3 sticks does in comparision of what entry lvl DDR2 sticks did when they appeared on the market. Originally planned to pick up a dirt cheap G.skill 2GBHZ set for an increadible 110€ pricetag but seeing initial DDR3 results even that plan might be worth thinking over. Obviously DDR3 will have a lot to offer.

    Like Andre said this doesn't really look like Qimonda ICs Victor.
    Could you show us a pic of the chips please ?

    I am sure this pair is ELPIDA chipset because I help GeIL hand pick some DDR3 ELPIDA chipset at Computex.
