    Cool Q6600 B3 ES @4009Mhz - Asus P5K Deluxe + 14-18C ambients

    Winter is truly here in Brisbane Australia tonight

    Normal night time room ambients = 25-30C
    Tonight room ambients = 14-18C

    Corsair Nautilus 500 external water cooling gets a reversible modification. At first I tried to replace the stock 120x25mm 44cfm fan, but it uses very small Torx screws to hold the fan in place so couldn't replace the fan. So I removed the entire lid, grabbed one of my Thermochill HE120.3 single 120mm fan shrouds and a Spire 120x25mm 96cfm fan and sat it on the radiator itself

    This is how it turned out and the Asus P5K Deluxe setup.

    Resulted in low 30-40ish idle coretemps in windows for the whole bench session

    Just doing some super pi runs for now. Will try wprime as well if I'm lucky to get similar cold ambient temps tomorrow

    System
    • Q6600 QUPT B3 ES
    • Corsair Nautilus 500 3/8" ID lid removed with Spire 120x25mm 96cfm fan
    • Asus P5K Deluxe 0311 bios
    • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI
    • 2x1GB Team 6400C3 3-3-3-8 dual channel kit
    • 74GB WD Raptor 8MB on SATA 1 port
    • Pioneer DVR-08 Burner
    • Sony FDD
    • 1KW PCP&C SLI psu
    • WinXP Pro SP2

    @3600Mhz

    @3904Mhz at 1.60v bios set

    @3936Mhz at 1.6375v bios set

    @3952Mhz at 1.6375v bios set

    @3977Mhz at 1.6375v bios set
    Everest Bandwidth only

    @4002.6Mhz at 1.6375v bios set

    @4009Mhz at 1.65v bios set
    cpuz validation

    I had 4021Mhz but system rebooted before i could save cpuz validation

    But bloody fast Super Pi 32M times for a Quad core kentsfield B3 step cpu considering they're slower clock for clock then Core 2 duo dual core B2 stepping cpus for single instance Super Pi

    are you sure quads are slower
    some people are saying they are a touch faster

    I would be alot more excited about 500 fsb than a 4000mhz validation at 14c, but it looks like you have an above average Q6600

    Someone who doesn't want a PC stable for more than CPU-Z and MS paint?

    I've done this too, 4 GHz is indeed bootable, paintable, without even voltmodding my board.. and I think this is the case for many q6600s with the right board and decent cooling. get it to shrink a dvd at that speed, with a multithreaded encoder, and watch what happens.

All we can suggest if you own the board is to check the download page periodically to see what is available.

    yeah for single instance super pi B3 slower than B2 from my testing, dual super pi B3 wipes the floor with B2 though

    I am only saying you need to run some wprime and I know you have a higher validation in you with your skills

    Thats great! Wish I could do that with my QX, but room temps averaging 30+C here, its not easy, and my ghettoed Water chiller falls back after 1hour of prime with 30C water temp... aside that 1.45v = 1.35-1.31v on my board

    And whats Your Vdroop like... mine is outrousious. I run 3.2Ghz 24/7 @ 1.31 set in bios, which translate to 1.22-1.21 real volts under full load. 1.26-1.27 idle.

    Very nice indeed mister George, though man you really need a proper bench setup this is messy (even for me )
    Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

    Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    0.01v droop with P5K Deluxe due to CPU voltage damper enabled in bios (no droop )

    hehe i haven't seen such cold winter temps in over 14+ months.. last winter was pretty warm above 20C for me.

    hah that i consider tidy.. you should see my other rigs (i don't use cases hehe)

    Well not as cold as last night but couldn't wait until 2AM - 5AM for colder temps

    Wprime 32M @3977Mhz at 1.6375v bios

    Managed to pull off wprime 32M @3977Mhz - took three runs to get it to pass hehe

    Everest Bandwidth at those clocks

    Wprime 32M + 1024M @3920Mhz at 1.6375v bios set

    Trying 1024M higher but errors crop up all over the place in wprime right now
