    Bios error

Hey I am having an issue with my Asus P5K Deluxe. I installed everything and it worked right at startup. I installed Vista Ultimate and a couple of other programs and played around for about 4 hours before I decided to flash the bios. I choose to use the asus updater that came on the provided disk and I choose the update from bios file on the pc option. Unfortunatly the program gave me an error stating that the epprom didn't complete flashing or something during the flashing process I was trying to install a firmware update to one of my optical drives and it gave me the blue screen of death. Now my computer will only power up for about 8 sec with all the indicator lights flashing before it shuts off again. I have tried clearing the cmos but that has had no effect that I could determine is there anything I can do?

You were flashing the firmware on one of your optical drives at the same time as flashing the bios???

Would it be recommended that I start out with a 32-bit OS for the hardware shakedown and then once I've got it stable where I want it, install the Vista 64? Or just not worry about the couple of apps that don't run in the Vista 64?
for oc'ing or starters use winxp pro sp2 .. vista might not be as ready as most folks want it for at least for overclocking

You mentioned that you dont know what the reference settings are for but I noticed you've been playing around with CPU PLL. Did it make a difference with your overclocks? Has made none to mine so far.
made no diff 1.6v CPU PLL did help me push Q6600 max FSB from 470 to 485FSB with old 0307 bios but have yet to try 0311 bios max FSB for Q6600 i hear it helps a bit with 0311 in getting higher quad core FSB ?

try loosening the sub timings to 10-42-11-11-11-11 and up NB to 1.55v and try

ouch you have balls.. don't use asus windows update to update use afudos or bios ez flash 2 only.. for now probably only way is to rma your board

As to my testing on P5K Deluxe, I'm now testing 2x1GB OCZ PC2-9200 FlexXLC on P5K Deluxe with 0311 bios... so far very easy to handle tight sub timings on P5K Deluxe unlike on P5B Deluxe where this OCZ FlexXLC didn't like tight sub timings at all

I thought I killed mine last weekend...tore it down and was gonna return it. Decided to pull the battery and clear cmos and let it set for about 4 hours. Built it back up and voila! She's now back to life....worth a shot. Unplug, pull the battery and move the jumper. Let her set for as long as you can stand it. If that don't work then RMA...
When it's good it's really good...And when it's bad I go to pieces...

Chances are the default boot rom might still be there. Check if floppy lights come on if there is a drive connected.
