Dude, I am more than well aware of thisbut compat issues aren't all that common nowadays really and these cards aren't solely bought for server purposes anymore. With RAID becoming more and more common on standard boards and articles on sites like Toms Hardware (yuk) pimping these things at normal folk, the market for RAID cards is bacoming bigger and more diverse, whether that is a good thing or not
.

I am using this board with an BFG 8800 Ultra card which is a lot bigger than I expected it to be.
Currently it is in the top graphics card slot - However, the length of the card has rendered 2 of the SATA ports unusable as they are un-accessable and the card has wiped out 2 of the 2 PCI slots due to its thickness.
I was wondering what the affect on the cards performance would be if I moved the card down to the 2nd graphics slot? This would free up all the SATA ports and also give me the 2 PCI slots that I need.
thanks.

Weird thing happened here: Booted the disk with the Windows XP installation I had from my previous board (Commando) and after installing the drivers from the CD, everything was ok, *including* Core Temp 0.95.
This boot was a test run before reinstalling XP ofcourse, but the weird thing is that after I performed the clean XP installation, 0.95 blue screens the system and only 0.94 works...![]()

to add my areca card is working fine on my p5k deluxe.Q10130407 - Is it possible to use an ARC 1210 in a PCI Express 4x slot?
Areca ARC-12Xx series RAID controller is based on the PCI Express X8. It can work on the PCI Express X1, X4, X8, and X16 signal with X8 or X16 slot M/B.

There are a few companies that make both left angle, and right angle sata cables, so with a combination of them you should be able to access all 6 ports. I am using the right angle cable that came with my P5K, as well as my P5W DH. But these cover the two ports next to them. So I'm guessing left angle cables would not cover sata port 5 & 6.![]()
Anyone get the WIFI to work using the Asus software? I can see my router but can't connect to it. It doesn't appear to be saving my security settings in the profile for that ssid.
If this doesn't work I guess I can remove the asus software and try getting driver from realtek. Freakin A. Everything else is butter though, I just want to get rid of the network cable since I have the wireless built in.
Welp I've had everything up and running for a bit, as folows.

I've got an Antec spot cool 80mm fan on my NB and it's runing at 1.25V but it's temps are still sky high at 51-2 C under load, and like 40-41 idle, my CPU idles at a lower temp than the NB Is that safe? not sure what I can really do to get it much better, I've also got the OCZ ram cooler w/ 2x 60mm fans on the Ballistix and they seem fine but I am kinda worried about the NB. Any suggestions?
you got that RIGHT!...i was the one that told Areca it works at least in a 4X slot with an 8X card....i would not buy the card until i did a little investigation, research first....i bought the card when the P5B and the P5WDG2-WS came out....areca tech support told me that they had no information on those boards although their card worked on an earlier Intel version chipset that had the PCIe slots...with that answer, i bought the card back in october..never looked back.
i was just advising the other "dude" that since he was having raid problems with the onboard controller; buying another 3rd party raid card is probably not going to solve the problem especially when the bios is probably the fault for his raid difficulties.....AND...that same bios can muck up the works for a 3rd party raid card!

this one is cheaper (less than $10) and works great.
also can anyone under vista x64 get AI suite(thanks eva) to show memory voltage?
edit: I'm running 2.93Ghz @ only 1.20 vcore.

Wow, I just finished reading 19 pages of this thread, and all was very good! Question for ya'll: Is BIOS 311 still the lastest and greatest? or is there something newer, or maybe a BETA BIOS floating around. Thanks
Nothing anymore
Just keep an eye on the asus ftp. I personaly have not seen a newer bios, so I think 0311 is still the latest.
