    Im measured.
It's a known issue.... read my last posts to know the reason.... you have to flash the bios v1463 to change really VCORE
I'm going to buy an Asus Commando, this "Bad Axe" is really a "Bad" mobo

    But what's your motherboard? D975XBX or D975XBX2???

By the way try to turn off your pc completely for twenty seconds (using the switch of your power supply or removing the power cable) after setting VCORE in the bios (I remember you that if you have D975XBX BAD AXE it must be v1463)

Flashed to 1479.....Intel Desktop CC no long works, just like with 1478....

    But here's a question;
I'd love to know how you guys with vcore changes are disabling C1E since it's not in the bios??

C1E can't be disabled from BIOS, you can use a soft under Windows like RMClock that you can find here http://cpu.rightmark.org/download.shtml

So doesn't vcore still change with 1479? Then we have to continue to stay with 1463...

All bios allow you to change voltages but since 147* it just don't work anymore.... but for that u must solder tehe OC debug jumper...

I bought the rev.304 as soon as it was released. I have been using the 1304 and just recently updated to the 1479 and don't like the new bios one bit. After seeing how many different bios were released between 1304 and 1479, I realized I need to find the good one amongst the group. 1304 was fairly good but I don't know if anything better has been released.

What seems to be the consensus with the best bios thus far? I see a few mentions for 1463?

1463 is the best, as far as BIOS settings and experimenting with overclocking. However, you can forget about upgrading to Vista while using 1463. You have to be at 1479 for Vista to even come close to working correctly. This is a real mess engineered by Intel. And I can see no reason for it except to sabotage us long time users (I bought a v304 the first week it was available; about a year ago, I believe).

With this sort of treatment I have to admit that Intel is not an "enthusiast friendly" motherboard manufacturer. Despite how much I enjoyed the D975XBX early on, this action by Intel has lost me as an Intel customer for life. Their action means that customers will never know what action Intel will take during each BIOS release. They will likely screw you at some point. What a pity. Intel.

    Newbie questions

I have a few newbie questions I was hoping someone could answer:

I have th original bad axe rev 3.04. I had to spend some cash before the conroes came out so I just grabbed a 805. I'm now starting to look an upgrade. I haven't done any mods to the board and I don't want to go too crazy as this is the computer I do most of my work on. So, here are some really bad questions:

    1) Where's a good place to get the pencil I need to turn on the overclocking options? The pencil trick is super easy for a newbie right?

    2) What's the highest comfortable FSB on this board without doing any mods? 400?

    Thanks,
    Schlotkins

    Hello all xtremeOCīs,

time to upgrade my system again. Even my current system is not really slowly (Asus NCCH-DL with 2x Xeon 3,4Ghz (2Mb Irwindale) @3740 Mhz FSB 220).
But the power consumption is to high for this machine.

I got ready a Intel D975XBX Mainboard. Its rev. 3.02 that why i get it very cheap at ebay. I have sucessfully done the mod. But its more easy to do the mod with standard resistors. Its very hard to find exactly the smd resistors in Germany (i was looking in many shops). Especially the 24,9 Ohm resistor canīt be find. I was using for this mod standard resistors (Metal resistor 1kOhm) and very thin wire. For the 24,9 Ohm resistor i was using a potentiometer (100 Ohm) and i adjust the resistor to 24,9 Ohm with a multimeter before I was soldering. Soldering of these parts is much more easy compared to using smd parts. Now it works fine.

I using Intel X6800 CPU. lest see how much i can overclock it ...

folks which ar no good in soldering i recommend to kill the mainboard with a electronic shocker (of course only if you still have warranty. be sure no other parts are mounted on mainboard when u kill it) and claim your warranty at intel. In the majority of cases you get back a newer Board revision from Intel.

im having some issues here with my D975XBX and i could really use a hand. i cant seem to boot with the 1333 strap. ive dont the conductive pen mod but when i select the 1333 strap it wont boot, just gives me the black screen and i have to jump the pin and go into "ohh noes" mode to readjust the strap so it will boot.

ive tried relaxing my memory timmings as high as they will go, setting the memory to 1:1 [677 for 1333 strap] ive upped all the voltage but still no luck. does anyone have some suggestions, perhaps a certain bios i should be using that boots the 1333 strap better? i can boot the 1066 strap just fine, even at 30% over clocking witch ends up being even higher than the base 1333 strap but once i select the 1333 strap she wont even boot. id just like to be able to start with the 1333 strap and then use the default override to move up from there so i have more headroom.

    heres my specs

    core 2 duo E6700
    mushkin REDLINE 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000)
duro 900 AND Juice Box EP-450CD UNI
    intel D975XBX
    bios version 1479
    SONY FDW-900
    74 gig raptor

many thanks to anyone that can shed some light on my situation.

Unfortunately with this mobo you can't boot at 1333 strap... it's a fake option and doesn't work

argggg, not good but i swear i saw a few people in this thread even say they are booting into the 1333 strap and ive seen other forums where people are claiming to be booting the 1333 strap. are they just mistaken about really booting that strap?

also does that mean im pretty much stuck at 3.4 as a top end since thats the 1066 strap plus 30%?
