Well, my crucial ballistix pc2-8000, took a dump (second time in 6 months) Newegg no longer carries the RAM, so they offered me a refund I Paid $299.99 for 2x1GB in December, they are giving me 284.99 back, so picked up 4GB of this stuff and still have $50 in my pocket. Look forward to playing with this, I do not overvolt my RAM, ever, so hopefully this will be more reliable than the ballistix I got. Looks like I can undervolt it and still get very nice clocks. Good deal.

    Hey guys,

I recently picked up 4GB of this:

Even tho they have the new headspreaders, the PCB is green coloured. Do these have D9's in them?

    Regards,
    Karan

You can easily slide the heat spreader off and check it.

But yes they should be D9

if you see the photograph I posted on #53, the sticker covers part of the clip which holds the heatspreader together.

Is there a way to slide the heat spreader off without taking the sticker out?

I have the new heat spreader version and it slides out with no problem

edit: I guess I should say you don't need to take the clip off, pry open the sides (very little force is needed using your fingers) and it will slide out

wow, $114.00 now at the egg.

I am wondering when 2x2gb kits will get cheaper like this, and when their overclockability will reach that of 1gb sticks...

No...but I don't get why everyone keeps asking this. Why not just check it yourself?

Wow, I'm so suprised how DDR2 prices have dropped during the 2 weeks I've been offline due to military service (2 weeks in the woods )

It's not only this kit but others too, too bad european prices are still lacking compared to US memory prices but still this kit can be had for only 115 EUR compared to ~175 EUR just 2 weeks ago.

Seems like going for very mature DDR2 kit instead of entry lvl DDR3 won't be difficult to do at such price like I also did last time with DDR1.

DDR3 is too expensive, the difference of perfomance is not worth the money. I think companies should start taking care of latencies first instead of higher clock speeds. I got pretty impressed when I saw DDR3 latencies started at 6-6-6-x O_o!
