Why do I get a .dll error when I try to play the DX9 version (I don't have a DX10 card yet)? Am I the only one to keep getting this?

I just updated dx9. It should work now.

Edit: Wow I can't play now because I don't have pixel shader version 2.0.

    thanks anyways

About the game; although its not the sort of game I prefer, it seems allright.
bu the strange thing is, the performance on my system doesn't change that much as i change the settings from low to high.. with high settings it runs about 15fps, with everything at low detail the framerate sits around 20fps

    specs;
    BFG 7900gt @ 550/850mhz (core/mem)
    Intel E4300 @ 2.4Ghz
512mb ram @ 266Mhz (temporary; due to f*cked up mobo)
Loading times also seem pretty short when i keep in mind that i only have 512mb ram..
512MB ram could be your problem:ill see (once i finish downloading)how it fairs on my 7900gt and report back. i want to see 2900xt numbers for dx10. and some side by side comparisons to the 8800gts and gtx. as those dx9 numbers look good

I'm having issues running the past 2 dx10 demos.

I keep getting an error of:
"This application has failed to start because d3dx10_33.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"

I am running Vista Buis and have a EVGA 8800 GTX with the latest drivers from nvidia.

    I'm fresh out of ideas

That worked great. That seems needlessly complicated to get dx10 working.

    Thanks a bunch

lol soo much for DX10 .. i cant notice any differnece between the same setting in Dx9 and DX10

also for DX10 ... u can max out the shadow settings(u cant do that with DX9, medium is the max u can set in dX9) , and not notice any difference between medium and max

Everything about this game is bizaare.

The menus are hard to navigate without the Xbox 360 controller.

When you change the resolution, the screen resolution doesn't change, just the back buffer.

The graphics aren't beautiful in the normal sense. Instead, they focus on environmental stuff. Motion blur, beautiful snow, explosions. I like it.

Even though it says 40fps, it still look slike it's running beautifully.

    Loading is very minimal.

It's great looking, and I don't feel like I'm killing my computer to play it.

it looks a bit scewd on my monitor but looks OK at 1280x960 and it is playable at that res and all default settings (except for the res) on my 7900gt not to bad i ran the performance thing but i had some other options enabled at 1280x960 and i got 26 snow and 27 caves. i will run it again at default. but overall the effects are really nice, as stated overall graphics could be better but the snow explosions and motion blur are cool it also has a good physics aspect. not to shabby. can anyone say if it looks better on the xbox360?

    1280x960 - 0xAA/16AF , everything else on highest possible

    Cave:45

No ing widescreen support. Really pathetic. highest widescreen resolution is 1360*, which makes it clearly evident that it was meant for consoles since 32-37" HDTVs typically have this native res....

You can use Everest to monitor you load. Alternatively you can use ThrottleWatch, it's free and uses very little resources.

Guys, like I said, the screen res is just whatever your desktop screen res is. It's the back buffer the res there changes.

It supports widescreen by applying the correct aspect ratio at any resolution.

I agree they should at least have higher res options, but playing 1280x800 upscaled to 1680x1050 is fine with me.

It doesn't work on Windows XP x64; same problem here and a google search later showed that everyone with that error is running XP x64.
