    Is my PSU ?
i also have the same problem with tagan 580 (2 x12v rails)
especially if i set vdimm @2.3v and upwards my pc have random reboots
i think its the psu because when i switch to combined rails i have significant less reboots and orthos blend last longer.

tomorrow i'm going for enermax gallaxy 850 or Pc power & cooling 750.

    any recommendations ?

I change my PSU with a ANTEC 550W and have the same problem.

yes, I absolutely need mode3 for ddr configuration otherwise I can't do orthos blend for more than 15~30 mins. I was able to do orthos small fft with auto to mode 2 for hours with no problems but once I started stressing the mem, it'll fail without mode 3.

I'm now at FSB 466.5, 3730mhz, 2.20v Ram, and I get system lock up around 15mins later doing orthos blend whereas I didn't get a sytem lock up at 463, 3700, 2.20 Ram, Mode 3, GTL strength auto. I tried GTL strength Mode 1 and I still get lock up after 15mins...now trying Mode 2 to see if it helps before I raise Vdimm.

Maybe someone pls explain what da hell is GTL + strength , I've asked this 3 times in the last couple pages, and no one answered.

    doom_st,

my problem is that with the same components but with my old ASUS P5W DH Deluxe, my systems runs very stable.

The probleem seems to be when I put this motheboard. I test with two PSU (Tagan 480W and Antec 550W) and my problem is the same.

Are you sure that my problem is PSU too ?

If I put 1,9 vdimm runs stable. If I put 2,0 I have randoms reboots but it's very difficult. If I put 2,1 the reboots it's more frequent, and if I put >= 2,2 the system don't boot.

    Anyone ?

Ok, raised the GTI + strength to mode 2 still doesn't help with the system getting locked up after 15mins. Tried bumping the voltage to 2.25v this time and it still doesn't help but at least I don't get a random lock-up. The lock up timefram were the same at around 15mins after orthos blend started stressing.

Another thing I could think of is to bump the VTT from 1.27v to 1.36v and it seems to stable the orthos blend test for more than 30mins now. I didn't raise other voltages becouse they should be enough for my configuration. NB is 1.48, SB is 1.6 and SB terminal is 1.10v.

Now one thing I've noticed with this mobo is whenever I start Orthos blend, I can hear this strange "squeaking noise" possibly from the RAMs? When I run small fft that only stresses the CPU, I don't hear strange noise but when the rams are under stress, the noise is quite noticeable and piercing to the ears...

    Does anyone notice this??

Also, it seems like the higher I raise the VTT the louder the noise will become.

I notice this noise as well!

On a side note, has anyone been able to use 4x1GB on this board? If so, could post your settings? It seems to be okay with 2x1GB, but 4 sticks, it crashes pretty instantly after Orthos.

    Thanks.

Apparently over at the DFI Club, there's already a thread existing on the "squeeling noise" from this mobo. It's definetely not one's particular case.

    http://csd.dficlub.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2217

The noise comes on and off during Orthos Blend, this is due to stressing the CPU and RAMS from each loop.

I'm currently at +2 hours Orthos blend stable as opposed to previous +15mins and lock-up situation. I found increased the VTT to 1.36v which is 2 intervals from stock settings does the trick. I no longer get the lock-up due to the Rams. So I guess I don't really need to bump my Vdimm to 2.25 and change GTL + strength to mode 2. I'll change those back to 2.2 Vdimm and GTL @ auto to see if it's still stable after I pass current Orthos blend

My Orthos blend full load temp is ranging from low to mid 60s degrees. Ambient temp is 20 degrees. 8 * 466.5 FSB = 3730mhz. Vcore +250mv = 1.5v, 1.48v in windows and 1.43v full load. NB temp is 27 degrees. NB 1.48v, SB 1.6v, VTT 1.36v and PCI-E freq at 105.

I know my chip is capable to run a bit more but I'm somewhat capped by my current 9700NT cpu cooler. When I get my hands on a new tube of AC MX-1 thermal compound + one of the best air cooled CPU heatsink ~ Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme or IFX-14 and see if I could bring the temp down to mid - high 50s. Since building a 24/7 xtreme OC rig is my goal, I'll try to keep it down below 65 (Orthos temp) and voltage at around 1.5v.

I hardly find any application that I'll use will run like Orthos and making my temp go up to low - mid 60s. So I'm strictly enforced my temp to be within 65 degrees thredshold (ORTHOS only) with any other type of 100% load or gaming or multi tasks...I only get low to mid 50s so in reality it's very safe and should last for years before I change my components again.

JWilson, it was confirmed that only 250 works. However, that said, do you notice the new memory dividers? Can you post at say stock 266fsb, and use all the three memory dividers, and post a ram shot of cpuz? We'd really appreciate it.

Also, .rh1 I believe stands for rebels haven. Renaming should work fine. Just make absolutely sure you flash it all. I attempted to do just a main block flash last night and now my bios is bricked again.

55c on nb? too high. i get about 30 under load with my hr05. you can turn it so that it fits. i've seen some people have it parallel to the card, although I can't since it'd hit my ram cooler. Your's sounds like it's definitely banked

On a side note, has anyone been able to use 4x1GB on this board? If so, could post your settings? It seems to be okay with 2x1GB, but 4 sticks, it crashes pretty instantly after Orthos.

    Thanks.
I tried 4 sticks of Patriot PC5300 that will hit 500+FSB 5-5-5-12 as 2GB pairs, but all 4 sticks together won't go over 490FSB and even then it requires more than the usual 2.10V

I'd be happy if I was able to run 4 sticks at stock speeds.

Its obvious that 4 sticks require more current to be stable. Also more NB voltage. Lastly check the GTL
