Most roadmaps said Q2 for the server chips, not for the desktop part which were slated to launch in Q3 but now they are telling us differently.

And this is from a company that just fired 3% of it's global workforce!

AMD can't hold a schedule if you put a gun to their collective heads.

As a shareholder, it's time for a management shakeup, bigtime. Hector needs security to escort his fat ass out the door.
As quoted by LowRun......"So, we are one week past AMD's worst case scenario for BD's availability but they don't feel like communicating about the delay, I suppose AMD must be removed from the reliable sources list for AMD's products launch dates"

As long as it's a quality cpu, waiting is not an issue.

Lucky you, playing with Conroes. I was waiting 2 months after its release to get one. What do you think about Penryn top frequency? Does 3.5GHz C2Q, 3.66GHz C2D sounds logical to you?

Since it taped out in mid august 06 I don't see why some believe the crap about Q2/early Q3 launch...

Validation takes at least 1 year and more so on complex designs like K10 where AMD changed the cores and put 4 of them on the same die.

Why claims it is late? Some people take sometimes their dream for reality... Before the big barcelona hype, one year ago: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/dis...503150902.html desktop version for Q1 2008. So in fact they are in advance.

    A month ago they said

First, you will see desktop variance of Barcelona in both two core and four core form in Q3 as well.

So I correct my post, reading many dreams from fanboys, Dirk R. Meyer take those dreams for reality...

... or could we trust COO when the loss are 611 millions $?

Guys anybody will be able to buy Barcelona for desktop in Q3!

Are you all forget that Opteron 1xxx is AM2(+) CPU??
Anyone wanting Barcelona ASAP should shave few more $$ for Opteron1xxx B0(2) stepping and job done...

Server doesn't necessarily mean all Opteron. I'm pretty sure they're shooting for quad socket, then dual socket, then single socket along with desktop.
