true i like double checking with DMM but i must say with Asus motherboards CPUz is always spot on within range it shows properly (at least P965 ones i tried) so i reckon this will be the case also but read points would be nice to confirm

My P5K DLX doesn't boot at all.

Have tried many things, Cellshock PC8000 SPD's (got that SPD-mod from The Stilt) but it doesn't help. X300SE in both PCI-E, tested PCI-card in all 3 slots, with single RAM etc.. SATA drive in all SATA ports, IDE drive...nothing helps to boot.

I'll send my MoBo back to The Stilt and get another one next week.

My p5K dlx run OCZ pc 9200 at 1205 MHZ with 2.2v !!!!! :-)) the x6800 work at around same speed that my sh... commando (3800)
By the way, if i put more than 1.4V in NB, i have errors on test5 in memtest.
Cooled with original heat pipe but put AS5...Strange !
    Bios is 304.
Problem is i can't monitor DDR voltage, ai suite don't work with vista and probe don't whow many things.... Regret on this with commando.
Conclusion: this mobo is not bad, sure i can go higher with ram but as many kits have been burned with the commando, i wait and see if in 2 month it work like today !!
(timings are in auto in bios for ram)

    There are some RAM problems.
I've read reports that DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 sticks let the board start. After you change BIOS settings you can use Cellshock RAM.

Very annoying problem. P5B-E Plus has similiar problem, but it doesn't require lower speed ram than the actual one, it just needs different ram.

How much is there difference between 6-phase and 8-phase (in P5k Dlx / P35 DS3/4) power regulation?

This is my speculation. The p5k has 6-phase power (I cant see any specs yet but just guess by counting the chips where half are cooled). The p5k deluxe has 8-phase and is written this way in the specs if u google it. The gigabyte p35 dq6 ( & p965 dq6 incidentally) have 12-phase power. Also a bit of folklore is that quads require even more stable cpu voltage regulation than 6-phase allows.

My conclusion is that a 6-phase p35 would have questionable overclocking results with quad cores. Thats my opinion until proven otherwise.

    what are you counting exactly

also don't forget Penryn will not be a power hog like current Kents so it probably won't impact it too much

One thing i have about higher phase motherboards is that they get nasty hot......it sucks

i think one member here will test it soon with a Quad so we'll know what to expect i guess

mi ddr2 works fine... now i'm stable at 500x6 1\1 (orthos) do you have tried the latest bios for the p5k?

    P5K Bios file (Version 0405)
    1. Increase
    BOOT_BLOCK_COMPATIABLE_VERSIONn to 3
    2. Revise [RAS# Activate to Precharge] option items.
    3. Generate a full reset if FSB of dual-core CPU is overclocked more than 500MHz.
    4. Added [Relax level] and it will display while [Transaction Booster] is Disabled.
    5. Updated some of DIMM checksum value and defautl setting to 2.0v.

    i dont' understand this:
    3. Generate a full reset if FSB of dual-core CPU is overclocked more than 500MHz ??

    Hi guys,
I've bought a p5k deluxe and I'm testing right now
1,385 in bios gives 1,352 in windows load this with voltage damper enabled in bios.
here are my results ate the moment and I'm still running orthos

Ps: Does anyone know what is the transaction booster option in bios , and what is does? And cpu and pcie spread spectrum options should thet be enabled or disabled?

    Thanks

I have got a 2 GB Kit Cellshock DDR2-1000 CL4 and a P5K Deluxe and it did not post either.

So i tried my 2 GB DDR2-1000 CL5 Crucial Ballistix Tracer Kit and ONLY changed the tRAS (Ras# Activate to preacharge) value from default 9 to 15.

Put in the Cellshock again and it did post - only one memory timing changed in the bios setup !!!

If i only had the the Cellshock - i would have been fu**ed.

What ram are u using? I heard problems with high rated SPD ram, probably just needs a bios upgrade.
