Quad on the other hand isnt going well. Updated to beta quad bios, while running orthos, system shuts off as if shut off temp was reached. I have shut off temp disabled in bios. Strange. This is just my first few hours with this board, so i will go back to quad in the next day or 2 and try again.
It's all in the GTL/Ref and BSEL settings. The problem is if you are off by 1 value, the board will lock, every CPU is just a little different, three Quads here, all three require different settings.

In other words no OC guide for the masses You "WILL" have to do some trial and error for your particular setup...

yeah for sure, gtl is actually tuning, any one of the gtl's could be off 1-2 points, as well as vtt.

The system shuts down, as if power plug was pulled. Is that what you mean when you say the board will lock? I just want to make sure something else isnt wrong.

Is anybody else having CPU temp reprting issues with this board? Smart gaurdian and bios read 60c and everest and coretemp show 45c.

How have you set your gtl's up, have you checked Oskar's chart @ TTR, the 1.4 vtt mark is where you need to be aiming...

    check the chart here, http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=163

I did not run Orthos, around 30 mins of OCCT is usually cool.

Btw if you got a qx6700 the 1400fsb mark is cool, same access latency @ 1400 as you will get @ 1800, so worth exploring... As is the dual bios on a quad which I will be working with...

I have an X3220 and cannot access any multi other than x9... CPU multi option is just not there after the initial boot with the latest BIOS. Can others with a non-Extreme proc confirm that they also don't have access to lower multi's?

More on this strangeness here... http://csd.dficlub.org/forum/showthread.php?t=2547

when bios is first flashed you should have an option to run @ native 9, or downwards from that point (8), look for the cpu multi unlock function in the cpu features page straight after a bios flash...

and select which way you want to go, this is a quirk atm, for the most part though you will wanna stay with 9 if performance is important to you..

Ok... I noticed (as you will see on my post at the Club Forums) this quirk of having an unlocked multi right after flashing but that the option disappeared after the next reboot!

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely start OC'ing at x9 for now.

the quirk has a technical reason behind it, the rom sip table is adjusted to allow you to go lower without sacrificing fsb limits. So you select which way to go after that first flash and stick with lower or default, it's not the most ideal or friendly way of doing things, however, it gives high fsb potential based upon the method you choose...

Lol, what is it with DFI and inaccurate temp sensors? Both my SLI-DR expert, and CFX3200 had temps sensors that were way out. U'd think they would get that right on boards that offer such voltage options!

Here you go guys, one of the reasons 500+fsb is worthless on the 680LT...490 linked and sync mode 4-4-3-5 9200 Flex/Reaper

Above 500 you will see over 500MB/s drop in bandwidth.

Still no go for me and quad core QX6700 L648B. System just turns off suddenly while running Prime 95. System Runs flawless when using C2D bios and E6600. With Quads, i spent 3-4 hours today playing with different settings. End result is i dont know. I can run 3D with out issues, but as soon as i crank Prime 95 up system shuts off. Any Ideas? I've tried different vcore, vtt, gtl, and different multis. Does this at default settings and overclocked.

My DFI965 did the exact same thing with my qx6700, the system just shut down like I pulled the plug. Very fustrating.

    Nugzo/Bootsy,
This is just a suggestion but is there any chance that the PSU is playing an issue when the Quad Core is installed? I realize that sounds crazy given your Thermaltake supply/Silverstone supply but as many have already realized the boards are a bit finicky when it comes to PSU's? Plus an issue with the power supply might cause the type of issues your having (shut down)? With that said what supplys are you guys using that have successfully run Quad Cores on this motherboard? I can imagine how frustrating thsi would be so I'm just tying to help out! Good luck guys and keep us posted on progress!

depends what kind of fsb you are trying to achieve , on any board, you are really only gaming or benching stable to some extent once yo go over a certain limit. Prime stability will always come in lower and in not always reminiscent of where you can run day to day without issue. System shutdowns usually signify ram instability of some sort.

Memory is perfectly stable. I've used the Kingston and Mushkin in my sig. I'm using it now. 6hrs on memtest last night 0 errors. It works on other boards with same cpu. i can run the kingston at 1200mhz no problem. shut downs happen even at 700mhz, but only with the QX6700. Flash Bios to C2D version, install E6600, overclock to 3800mhz, run orthos/prime all day, no shut downs.
