I received my board from mwave as well. Other motherboards I've purchased have been laid on a bed of foam.

I also noticed that the board was made in China...not surprising really, but I'm a little leary of quality control. The other motherboards I've owned (Abit, Epox, Albatron) have been manufactured in Taiwan.

Taiwan is the worst place to make electronics. every appliance i had that broke had "Made in Taiwan" on it.

I'm using the 1066 strap and 2:3 divider.

I've increased vMCH, vFSB, vdimm and tried different CAS values but nothing seems to be able to get it stable higher.

It's good RAM, I've got it running 507Mhz 4-4-4-4 at 2.12vdimm so I know it's got alot more in it. This is damn frustrating
    Anything guys?

Just booted up a brand new XBX2. Even at stock settings the NB sink is darned hot. I cant touch it for more than 30 secs

Is that normal? The mind boggles at how hot its going to be when I start to OC

It shouldn't be. Did you change out the thermal pad on the heatsink? If so, make sure it's making some good contact. Mines very very cool to the touch on stock. So, something is definitely wrong. But maybe that's because I threw some AS5 on mine.

Nope I havnt done anything to the NB heatsink.

I did use it as a "handle" to help manoeuvre the mobo into the case. I later saw in the manual that Intel says NOT to do this in order to not damage the NBs TIM

Perhaps I have damaged the NB TIM ... it really is very hot. Although if I damaged the TIM the heatsink should actually be cooler i.e. heat isnt flowing from the chip to the heatsink as effectively. In that sense a hot heat sink is a good sign.

Should I take off the NB heatsink and redo the TIM with AS? i.e. have others found the stock TIM to be poorly applied.

The CPU itself seems to run fine at stock ~ 45*C with an Artic Freezer 7.

replace the TIM as sucks anyways atleast for overclocking.

The watchdog didn't appear until after 2333 so you're fine.

    here is something interesting:

I have the XBX2 with the E6600, I'm overclocked at 3.4. My idle temp were always around 44-46 and my fans were always a little loud. So, I went in BIOS and disable all the fan controls (CPU and system fan control). Then I noticed that one of the fans wasn't running constantly anymore, and my temp dropped to 40-42. Also the full load temp are never beyond 56. My case has 2 fans, rear and front and my CPU has the Tuniq Tower on top of it. I have the Tuniq fan set to max, but honestly I'm not sure if that's the loud fan that comes on once in a while, I can't figure it out. The interesting part is that the loud fan seems to be kicking in only when I launch Internet Explorer. I tried tons of other applications and it seems that only IE triggers it. It stays on for a while and then it goes silent again or maybe it just spins at a lower speed, not sure, but my whole rig is quiet then.

Any idea guys if this is normal? Should I let the CPU and the system control the fans?

Never. This is an Intel board. If you want unlocked multipliers, buy a Extreme Edition processor

Just download the 2692 BIOS in the .EB file extension direct from:
    http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...ndent&lang=eng

Run it right out of Windows, like I did.
