Actually, I'm using a bit of common sense on it..

Think about it. If they had THAT kind of headroom, do you think they'd launch them at 750mhz?

Yes, I do not have the card, that is a fact. I do know, however, that the 8600gts, which is less than half the transistors on the exact same process took over 1.7v(IIRC, may have been more) to achieve 1+ ghz on air. How hot do you think a 700 million transistor part would get at anywhere near that voltage on air?

Therefore, while it may technically be speculation, it's going by other parts on the same process. Other parts that should theoretically clock higher due to a smaller transistor count.

In end, there's no need to roll your eyes.

Has it something to do with Sampsa saying "people revealling all the details before NDA lift" or was it just old news, ie. DT benchmarks?
It was a prerelease thread that was making "final" conclusions about a card...conclusions that didn't go in line with what those under NDA with XTs were saying.

Hard launch my foot. That would mean that they would be shipping units as we speak in order to expect it to be available by the 14th. That would also mean that store employees would know the price of them and date of arrival (in some cases, not all).

What do you think the little tidbit aboput May 1st was about? That was why it was thought the NDA lifted, as it's hard to keep such under wraps. Stores need time to add pages to thier websites, and get them up...such takes time. The current fervor over this subject is due to that. WHere do you think most of the leaks are from? 3This is a well greased machine, and every ATI product-line launch has been just like this, same people posting the same sort of info, blah blah blah....should be no different than a standard AMD launch, for availability, however, form what I can gather....why do you think it was delayed so long?

The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

Your comments don't either, in the face of reality. The marketing machine that is currently underway, the leaked "info", the XIP's posting, all signify certian stages in the release of a product. You must not look at the info, but the motivations for the info; the causes to know who has what where.

The majority of info I have seen posted has come from people that would be in the position "in the channel" to get cards, while the "false" stuff comes from employees that work @ distributors for various retailers, who, in order to have a launch, must update websites, post product info, and be ready for a sale. Contents of included parts, like the games included, clockspeeds, driver versions...website programmers and disc assemblers as well as sales people have this sort of info. Long before things can be on the shelf, people must handle them, and Shamino posted that the NDA lifted on the 1st simply because he knew of a retailer/distributors who has got cards, or was expecting them on that day. Once the card are in the hands of retailers...it's hard to keep the info "shut tight". Shamino doesn't stick his head out to get it cut off.

Info is starting to come out...which means only one thing...and you have overlooked this, obviously.

    R600 Technology reviewed

Being the first on the market with mostly 65nm design could turn out to be a first among many good things about this product series. We heard a lot of people talking about incredible overclockability of these chips, given the right cooling considering the fact that top-of-the-line products are pretty power-hungry. It seems as though AMD will not launch the 1GB XTX version in 90/80/whatever nm process at all, but rather wait for the 65nm process to be ready for the masses. Smart decision, if we might add. 512-bit ringbus memory controller is also very much "to credit" for the incredible bandwidth Radeon HD 2900 cards have, but we'll get back to that later. There are also these pretty high clock speeds and other stuff to discuss...

no the man was furgie (misspelled intentionally, or was it that freak of nature (singer)). seriously though, seen the rumours of ange being terminal ill? i mean the looks go with it according to some pics on superficial or ontd.

but anyway. the pleasant surprise.. well as far as i know it hasn't been explained or elaborated on, but when i see and hear statements like the one in denny's thread about certain gt3 scores being WAY low and his stock score being close to or on par with a 8800gtx, then i'll say.. what the heck, this IS a pleasant surprise.
i mean, yea i've had a love-hate relationship with the r600. starting with loving then loathing, loving, ... you get the picture. atm i'm looking forward to it, although i won't be buying one for at least 2 or 3 months (being out of country and away at around the time it goes on sale will save me this time, yay). but i'll be interested to see it rock the socks off (hoping it will anyway).

That Sapphire cooler has a MUCH bigger fan than reference ATI heatsink. Should cool better hopefully as well as much quieter. When all the reviews come out a week Monday I hope they review some of these models with aftermarket coolers and not just the stock reference cooler.
