Aeneon Goes High-End, Launches New XTUNE DDR2-1066 Overclocking Memory Modules

Aeneon Launches New XTUNE DDR2-1066 Overclocking Memory Modules:

Aeneon, a Qimonda AG brand, announced the availability of a new series of overclocking memory modules designed on the needs of demanding users looking for highest speed and reduced latency. The new XTUNE overclocking series consists of DDR2 1066MHz overclocking memory modules offering exceptional system performance without any compromise on fast, stable and reliable system operation. With the XTUNE series Aeneon becomes the worldwide first memory vendor to provide high-performance memory modules without the need of higher supply voltages.
The 240-pin DIMMs are equipped with a high-quality heat spreader to avoid critical operating temperatures. For non-overclocking usage the DIMMs support 800 MHz (5-5-5-15) operation in industry standard mode. The new overclocking DIMMs will be available through the authorized Aeneon sales representatives and distributors starting May 2007.
The XTUNE DDR2 memory modules are available with densities of 512MByte (AXT660UD00-19D) and 1GByte (AXT760UD00-19D). Both single modules are tested to run at 1066MHz at a latency timing of 5-5-5-15 at the standard DDR2 voltage value of 1.8 V. The modules can be organized as 64M or 128M x 64 bit respectively based on 8 (16) components of 64M x 8-bit DDR2 FBGA chips. XTUNE DDR2 memory modules are offered in dual channel kits with two identical modules (2x512MB or 2x1GB) tested together in dual channel mode at 1066MHz at a latency timing of 5-5-5-15.

Glad to see that Qimonda is finally going serious at this, but can they really compete with the best?
    We shall know soon..

DDR3 fills the headlines these days, even regular models do.
So what exactly is the point of this if not medie exposure? Certanly not ddr2 market share...

    Nicely done.
In short, both AMD and NVIDIA discovered that their next-generation graphics cards are superior to each others' last-generation graphics cards.

We sometimes get stock DDR2 from Aeneon at work, I'm always a little suspicious of its reliability; but if this stuff clocks well & is reliable it might raise my opinion of the brand.

Finally a new overclocking brand that doesn't use Micron D9.

DDR1066 5-5-5-15 @ 1,8Volt is pretty nice imo, I wonder how much room there is.

I think they may be sharing heatspreader designers with Wintec. AmpX anyone?

    Aeneon?

Isn't the whole point of Aeneon to sell the chips that are too crappy to have the Infineon brand name?

Of course, it's the standard heatspreader design thats been around since the first DDR modules began using them. I was more referring to the graphic style used on the heatspreaders themselves.
