tried 1 stick of the gskill and still no signal on my monitor, tried both vga and dvi. Went out and bought a generic piece of ram to see if its because the gskill need 2.0/.1 volts but still no signal. tried just the ram cpu and video and still nothing. Everything spins up fine and when i had harddrives hooked up i could hear them working. Cant really test piece by piece either because no one i know has ddr2/c2d

it's a good thing you got that 2nd stick. try again.

i had the pc8000hz's and yes, they try to boot up at 4-4-4-5 ddr2-1000!!! with only default voltage.

you're gonna have to try to boot up with antoher stick, get into bios, adjust voltage to 2.1, change timings to 4-4-4, ref freq 266, mem freq 533 and then go from there.

So i think i found the problem. 1. I had to use an old pure vga monitor and it booted! YAY but the graphics had crazy corruption, trying a buddies card tomorrow. Thanks for the info guy

Those people who achieved greater than 333 FSB 24/7 STABLE with a quad core and this board, please discuss your settings if you would. Does one particular BIOS stand out for the quads? Thanks.

Ditto and I assume you're referring to the 266 (1066) strap.

Another question, have any other quad users been able to use the 333 (1333) strap? I just can't seem to get it to boot.

    Cheers

Yeah, 266 atm. I actually got my quad to post at 401 FSB on my P5WDG2 WS Pro before but I can't even get close to posting at 400 on this board. The flip side of this is how stable this board actually is. I know my chip can do it, I just want to make sure I'm getting the right tweaks. FSB is just more important for quads, so I want to make every effort to get it.

And to be honest, 333 is a little dodgy. 330 is stable forever, but 333 can crash long-term under small ffts. And this happens when I lower my multi and downclock my cpu as well.

    what I use with Q6600:

    memory :
    default
    667
4-4-3-5 2.2v (dunno if your memory can do this, use your memory spd)

    cpu : 3.4ghz

1.4vcore (+- depending on your cpu)
    enhanced power slope enabled
    vfsb 1.35
    vmch 1.65
    fsb : 378

334x9 is possible for me with default vcore/vfsb and vmch with powerslope enabled (YYMV)

important : a small fan over the NB (or some airflow over it)

    Goodness me.

I just got an awesome chip - one of the new E6600's that are performing very well - and it's doing me some good... just one thing seems to be holding me back.

Around 1.45v running orthos (and higher vcore even, and lower) my system will restart without warning - Orthos doesn't bug out first, it just restarts.

Perhaps someone can give some guidance?

My vMCH is at 1.6v and my vFSB at 1.4... memory is 1:1 at 400 4-4-4-12 2.2v (very lax for testing purposes.) EIST and C1E are off, of course. The temps are under control for sure, 27-30 at idle and no more than 60 load. Does the BX2 have an automatic shutoff around 75 or something (from the temp reading under the socket?)

    Any suggestions?

Do any of the new BIOSes let you up the multi on a QX6700? Need an answer quick!

It's probably going to be valid for the XBX2 only.

Well, the calculations will be correct but the other BIOSes don't provide the same settings as the XBX2 so things like "reference" and "memory" frequency might not have any meaning. The determination of the strap, which is directly related to the memory frequency, also won't apply to chipsets other than the 975X.

Just finished my first intel build in a long time, Bad Axe 2, Xeon 3060 (L651B391), Thermalright Ultra 120, BFG 8800GTS 320MB, Corsair XMS2-6400 TWIN2X2048-6400C4.

First build ever to boot up completely trouble free on the first try, gotta say I´m impressed so far, quite the performance boost from my old Athlon XP and 6800GT.

K, managed to get the 333 strap to work with the quad, which wasn't easy, but not with the 5:6 divider (333 - 800) that I needed. I've found that this board often needs a complete BIOS default reset before it will change some of the settings, even when moving to a known stable config . This happens even when manually powering off the comp after any BIOS change too.

It was maxing out at 333FSB with the QX6700 so I swapped out for an E6600 which seems to have a lot less issues than the quad btw. Anyways, I've managed to get it to the 400FSB I needed with around 1.625vMCH. Damn shame you can't change to a lower multi with non EE chips though cause it's running a little toasty even under a Tuniq Tower.

Oh and using an IDE drive I was able to boot straight to windows with an OS installed on a 965 chipset mobo so that got around the inability to install windows issue I was having on SATA drives.
Haven't tried a clean OS install with this board yet as I'm worried it will crash just like the SATA drives

Same thing here. This is now the third stick of Micron memory I have had go bad on this board. The first two were running at 2.4V, and the last was running at 2.2V. Everything on board was stock voltage wise; the only changes in my BIOS were my FSB and multi settings. All three sticks have been in slot 3.

I remember not so long ago when any RAM that worked for a couple of days would live forever, and didn't either die or get killed by a mobo. Are we suspecting that this BX2 killed this RAM? Or, do we just not know?

LOL - if I was only using two sticks I would do this, but I have 2 2 x 1GB Corsair Dominator 8500 sets so all slots are in use. This last stick worked great for about a month and a half before it went kapupt.
